🔍 Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) Hunting at Davao International Airport ✈️

As part of its flight inspection and validation functions, the Flight Inspection and Calibration Group (FICG) of the CAAP is actively monitoring for any RFI that may be affecting Radio Navigational Equipment, including GNSS and its applications to aviation.

The FICG is currently utilizing the Rohde & Schwarz DDF-007 Portable Direction Finder to tackle a significant issue at Davao International Airport. We have identified a local FM station transmitting at 329 MHz, which coincides with the frequency used for GPS correction of the Flight Inspection System (FIS) during flight inspections.

This matter has been reported to the Air Navigation Service (ANS) of CAAP Davao which will coordinate with the National Telecommunications Commission to address the interference.

Our dedicated Airfield Lighting and Power Technician (ALPT) team works tirelessly to maintain the functionality of the PAPI system. Furthermore, the Flight Inspection and Calibration Group (FICG) conducts periodic flight inspections to ensure its accuracy and integrity.
