The Coast Guard Aviation Command (CGAvCom) in collaboration with Coast Guard Cyber Command (CGCC) successfully conducted a Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar aboard Headquarters Coast Guard Aviation Command, DOTr Hangar, Domestic Airport Complex, Pasay City.

The seminar was participated in by CGAvCom personnel, including personnel from various Air Stations throughout the country via Video Teleconference (VTC), demonstrating the Commandโ€™s commitment to strengthening cybersecurity awareness and information security among its personnel.

The seminar was then facilitated through Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), ENS REYMART P CENTINO PCG and SW2 Jessa V Abiena PCG from CGCC. The lecture was anchored on pressing digital threats, including common cyber vulnerabilities, social engineering, phishing, unauthorized access, and other emerging cyber risks that may compromise sensitive information and critical systems. The SMEs likewise emphasized the importance of responsible digital practices, proper handling of information, and adherence to established cybersecurity policies and procedures within the PCG.

During the interactive session of the seminar, participants were provided with essential guidance on identifying compromised accounts, recognizing suspicious online activities, and determining the appropriate standard protocols to execute during a security breach. Practical discussions and situational examples further enhanced the participantsโ€™ understanding of how to respond to potential cyber incidents, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining constant vigilance, practicing proper password and account security, and safeguarding unit networks and information systems.

The conduct of Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar directly benefits CGAvCom by elevating cyber awareness, bolstering operational readiness, and reinforcing overall network resilience. By equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to cyber threats, the Command is better positioned to protect critical information, systems, and aviation-related operations, ensuring that CGAvCom remains fully prepared to carry out its official duties and safeguard maritime aviation operations.

Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck General Santos City, Coast Guard Aviation Command (CGAvCom) immediately deployed CGH-1452 to support the Philippine government's Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations across General Santos City, Sarangani Province, South Cotabato, and Davao Occidental.

CGH-1452 served as a vital aerial asset throughout the response, conducting extensive aerial surveillance and hazard assessment missions over the affected areas, including General Santos City, Glan, Alabel, Malapatan, Malungon, Jose Abad Santos, and T'boli. These operations provided real-time aerial intelligence that enabled authorities to assess the extent of damage, identify isolated communities, evaluate the condition of critical infrastructure, and monitor geologic hazards, thereby supporting informed decision-making and the effective allocation of response resources.

Beyond reconnaissance, the aircraft played a crucial role in sustaining humanitarian operations by transporting relief supplies, emergency response personnel, and essential equipment to communities that were severely affected and, in many cases, inaccessible by land. Relief delivery missions were successfully carried out in Barangay E. Alegado, Malapatan; Barangay Big Margus; Rio del Pilar; and Sitio Lanao Banwang, Barangay Datal Bukay in Glan, ensuring the timely distribution of food packs, potable water, and other life-sustaining assistance to displaced and isolated residents.

CGH-1452 also provided critical medical support through the ex*****on of a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) mission, safely transporting a patient requiring urgent medical attention from Glan, Sarangani Province to an appropriate healthcare facility. In addition, the aircraft performed ferry missions that facilitated the movement of response personnel, relief goods, and operational equipment, strengthening the overall efficiency and continuity of disaster response operations.
