The Coast Guard Aviation Command (CGAvCom) in collaboration with Coast Guard Cyber Command (CGCC) successfully conducted a Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar aboard Headquarters Coast Guard Aviation Command, DOTr Hangar, Domestic Airport Complex, Pasay City.
The seminar was participated in by CGAvCom personnel, including personnel from various Air Stations throughout the country via Video Teleconference (VTC), demonstrating the Commandโs commitment to strengthening cybersecurity awareness and information security among its personnel.
The seminar was then facilitated through Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), ENS REYMART P CENTINO PCG and SW2 Jessa V Abiena PCG from CGCC. The lecture was anchored on pressing digital threats, including common cyber vulnerabilities, social engineering, phishing, unauthorized access, and other emerging cyber risks that may compromise sensitive information and critical systems. The SMEs likewise emphasized the importance of responsible digital practices, proper handling of information, and adherence to established cybersecurity policies and procedures within the PCG.
During the interactive session of the seminar, participants were provided with essential guidance on identifying compromised accounts, recognizing suspicious online activities, and determining the appropriate standard protocols to execute during a security breach. Practical discussions and situational examples further enhanced the participantsโ understanding of how to respond to potential cyber incidents, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining constant vigilance, practicing proper password and account security, and safeguarding unit networks and information systems.
The conduct of Cybersecurity Awareness Seminar directly benefits CGAvCom by elevating cyber awareness, bolstering operational readiness, and reinforcing overall network resilience. By equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to cyber threats, the Command is better positioned to protect critical information, systems, and aviation-related operations, ensuring that CGAvCom remains fully prepared to carry out its official duties and safeguard maritime aviation operations.
