Networking event for former Filipino Kaigo workers 🇯🇵🇵🇭

The Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS), in cooperation with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), will be holding another networking event for former Filipino Kaigo (caregiving) workers in Japan who have returned to the Philippines.

This free event will feature a dementia care workshop, information about Japanese language teacher course, and fun activities.

We hope this event will bring together former Filipino Kaigo workers, help establish a stronger network among them, and provide opportunities to support their career development.

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) visited St. Andrew’s School in Parañaque City on 2 September 2026 for another fun-filled Hello!Japan session! 🎌🌸

The school’s Grade 9 to 12 students took a crash course on all things to know about Japan with an insightful discussion on its rich culture, heritage, and traditions. ⛩️🎎 St. Andrew’s young minds also got to practice their Nihongo skills with a Jikoshoukai or self-introduction session, where they learned how to introduce themselves with their name and age! 💬🌟

Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare UENO Kenichiro visits the Japanese Memorial Garden

On 25 August 2026, Japan’s Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare UENO Kenichiro visited the monument to the war dead in Caliraya, Laguna, the Philippines. He paid his respects by offering flowers with thoughts for peace.

After the war, Japan and the Philippines have steadily nurtured their bonds with each other. Japan reaffirms the value of peace and friendship with the Philippines.

As his tour of duty ends, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya leaves a farewell video message dedicated to all his Filipino friends and partners.

Ambassador ENDO pays a farewell call on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos

On 27 August 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a farewell call on H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, and First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos at Malacañang Palace.

During the call, Ambassador Endo expressed his sincere appreciation to President Marcos for his leadership, which led to concrete developments in the areas of security, the economy, and people-to-people exchanges between Japan and the Philippines.

While referring to the State Visit of the First Couple to Japan last May 2026 on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Japan-Philippines Friendship, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Japan and the Philippines. They also expressed their shared determination and resolve to further broaden cooperation as Comprehensive Strategic Partners.

President Marcos conferred the Order of Sikatuna on Ambassador Endo in recognition of his contributions to further strengthening the friendly relations between Japan and the Philippines.

遠藤大使は、日フィリピン間の安全保障、経済、人的交流分野等における具体的な成果につながったマルコス大統領のリーダーシップに心からの謝意を表明しました。

日フィリピン国交正常化70周年に当たる本年5月の大統領夫妻の国賓訪日に言及しつつ、両者は、日フィリピンの長年にわたる友好関係とともに包括的・戦略的パートナーとして協力を一層拡大していくとの決意を再確認しました。 

マルコス大統領は良好な二国間関係の強化への貢献に対し遠藤大使にシカツナ勲章を授与しました。

Ambassador Endo hosts farewell reception

On 26 August 2026, Ambassador Endo hosted a farewell reception at his residence as he concludes his tour of duty in the Philippines. The reception was attended by distinguished guests including Cabinet members, members of Congress, officials from the Philippine government, business leaders, and double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, as well as many other guests who bid the Ambassador a fond farewell.

In his remarks, Ambassador Endo reflected on the milestones of his tenure, which lasted approximately two and a half years, and expressed his confidence that Japan-Philippines relations would continue to develop robustly. He also conveyed his gratitude to his counterparts from both countries and across various sectors whom he had met during his time in office.

Ambassador of the Philippines to Japan Mylene Garcia-Albano and Philippines-Japan Economic Cooperation Committee, Inc. (PHILJECC) Chairman Alfred Ty also delivered their messages, conveying their well-wishes to Ambassador and Madame Endo.

8月26日、遠藤大使は、大使公邸において離任レセプションを開催しました。

遠藤大使はレセプションにおける挨拶の中で、約2年半の在任期間中の出来事を振り返るとともに、今後も日・フィリピン関係が、力強く発展していくことを確信している旨述べました。また、在任中に出会った様々な分野の両国関係者に感謝の意を表しました。

レセプションには、閣僚、議会議員、フィリピン政府機関、財界の代表者、また、二度のオリンピック金メダリストであるカルロス・ユーロ選手など、多くの来賓が出席し、別れを惜しみました。

ミレーン・ガルシア=アルバノ駐日フィリピン大使及びアルフレッド・ティ・フィリピン・日本経済委員会会長も挨拶を行い、遠藤大使夫妻への祝意を伝えました。

Ambassador Endo pays farewell call on DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan

On 25 August 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a farewell call on Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan.

Ambassador Endo expressed his gratitude for Secretary Balisacan’s leadership in advancing Japan-Philippines economic relations, while Secretary Balisacan thanked Ambassador Endo for his valuable contributions to economic development cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides looked forward to further strengthening Japan-Philippines cooperation and partnership in the years ahead.
