Responsible AI at the Core of SDO Pasay’s Literacy and Special Programs Review

The Schools Division Office of Pasay City successfully conducted the Program Implementation Review on Division-Initiated Projects for Literacy and Other Special Programs on August 13–15, 2026, at LIME Resort Manila, Pasay City. Anchored on Project COHERE (Curriculum-Oriented Hub for Engagement, Reflection and Empowerment) and aligned with Project LEADER (Leading Educators in Advancing Development, Engagement, and Resilience), the activity strengthened the Division’s commitment to reflective practice, innovation, collaboration, and responsive educational leadership.

With the theme “Review, Reflect, and Reconceptualize: Leveraging AI for Effective Literacy and Special Program Implementation,” the three-day activity provided a platform for participants to review accomplishments, identify implementation gaps, share effective practices, and reconceptualize strategies for more responsive and sustainable programs. A key emphasis was placed on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, support data-informed decision-making, and improve program implementation while upholding accuracy, accountability, data privacy, ethical use, and human oversight.

The activity was graced by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, CESO VI, whose presence and steadfast support reinforced the Division’s commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and quality education. His leadership encouraged participants to embrace emerging technologies while ensuring that their use remains purposeful, responsible, and centered on improving learner outcomes.

The invited resource speakers further enriched the activity. Mr. Anthony Vhic R. Cedo, through his session “Work Smarter with AI: Boosting Productivity and Streamlining Workflows,” demonstrated practical and responsible ways of harnessing AI to improve efficiency and program implementation. Meanwhile, Dr. Maria Jacqueline Bernardino, in her session “Enhancing Literacy and Special Programs Reporting through Strategic Alignment with the DEDP,” emphasized the importance of aligning program accomplishments, interventions, and reports with the Division Education Development Plan (DEDP).

More than a program review, the activity embodied the spirit of Project COHERE and Project LEADER—bringing education leaders together to review with honesty, reflect with purpose, and reconceptualize programs for greater impact. It reaffirmed SDO Pasay’s commitment to responsible innovation, where AI complements human expertise and professional judgment, strengthens educational leadership, and ultimately contributes to better outcomes for every learner.
