In line with the continuous efforts of Sto. Niño Elementary School to promote disaster preparedness, safety awareness, and community resilience, the school conducted the seminar entitled “MAAGAP: Maagang Aksyon at Akmang Gawin Ayon sa Panahon” on July 31, 2026.

The activity served as a cascading initiative of the knowledge and insights gained from the DOST-PAGASA Seminar on Tropical Cyclones and Weather Awareness, bringing essential information, safety measures, and preparedness strategies closer to our learners, parents, and stakeholders.

The seminar featured the following topics:

☁️ “𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝗳𝗳𝘆 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀!” – focused on cloud formation and how clouds help us understand weather conditions.

🌀 “𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝟭: 𝗨𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀” – discussed tropical cyclone formation, classification, movement, and monitoring.

📚 “𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼. 𝟬𝟭𝟰, 𝘀. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀” – highlighted the importance of sustaining education during emergencies and the roles of schools, learners, and parents in ensuring learning continuity despite disruptions caused by disasters.

🛟 “𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀: 𝗔 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆” – provided practical knowledge on safety precautions and preparedness measures before, during, and after a tropical cyclone, including monitoring official advisories, preparing emergency supplies, and following safety protocols.

The activity was attended by the SPTA Officers and Board Members, Grade 4–6 Class Presidents, Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) Officers, Batang Empowered & Resilient Team (BERT) officers and members, parents, and barangay officials.

Through MAAGAP, the school strengthened its partnership with the community in building a culture of preparedness, safety, and resilience. Together, we can be more informed, more prepared, and more resilient in times of emergencies. 💪🌧️

Sto. Niño Elementary School extends its deepest gratitude to Barangay Captain Dietmar “Akaw” Romualdez and the Barangay Council for their unwavering support and commitment to promoting disaster preparedness and strengthening the partnership between the barangay and the school. Your continued support truly makes a difference in building a safer and more resilient school community. 🤝
