On November 16, 2025, at 0800 hours, the Search and Rescue (SAR) Team conducted a simulation training on Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) for members of the Charlie Company. The training aimed to further enhance the participants’ operational competence in rescue equipment handling, Basic Life Support (BLS) application, and patient retrieval under collapsed structure conditions.
Prior to the start of the exercise, the SAR Team conducted a strict inspection of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including helmets, gloves, harnesses, boots, and respiratory protection devices. Each participant’s PPE was checked for compliance and integrity to ensure maximum safety during the activity. Facilitators also reiterated the importance of PPE use, emphasizing that proper and consistent wearing of protective gear is critical for both rescuer and victim safety in real emergency operations.
The activity began with a briefing on scene assessment, hazard recognition, and coordination protocols within the incident command structure. A refresher on Basic Life Support (BLS) followed, focusing on the assessment of airway, breathing, and circulation (ABC), CPR techniques, and trauma management.
Participants were then divided into teams to perform simulation drills replicating a collapsed structure scenario. The exercises involved victim location, stabilization, and extrication using spineboards and rope management systems, including anchor setting, lowering, and hauling procedures. The teams were also tasked to conduct on-site BLS interventions and patient retrieval to designated triage areas.
Throughout the simulation, facilitators closely supervised operations to ensure safety, accuracy, and adherence to proper rescue and medical protocols. The session concluded with a debriefing, where observations, best practices, and key takeaways were discussed.
