In celebration of the coming World Consumer Rights Day on March 15, 2026, we are reminded of one of the fundamental rights of every Filipino consumer — the Right to Basic Needs.
This right ensures access to essential goods and services such as adequate food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education, water, sanitation, and public utilities. Protecting this right means ensuring that basic necessities remain available, accessible, and fairly priced for all.
Guided by laws such as the 1987 Philippine Constitution, the Price Act (RA 7581), and the Local Government Code of 1991, DTI Iloilo actively works to safeguard this right by monitoring prices of basic necessities, preventing unfair trade practices, responding to consumer complaints, and coordinating with local government units to enforce consumer protection laws.
Through these efforts, DTI Iloilo remains committed to protecting consumers and promoting fair, accessible markets for every Ilonggo.
An informed consumer is an empowered consumer. ✔️
