To ensure agricultural productivity, monitor crop status, and support local farmers, the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) recently conducted a field monitoring activity across various rice fields in our municipality.

​Through regular field visitations, our Agricultural Extension Workers assess crop growth, monitor potential pests and diseases, and evaluate water supply conditions to help secure a bountiful harvest for our farming community.

​We remain committed to promoting sustainable farming and providing technical assistance to our local food producers.

The Department of Agriculture Western Visayas, in partnership with LGU Sibalom, officially launched the Participatory Technology Promotion of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Against Fall Armyworm project at Brgy. Iglanot, Sibalom, Antique.

The event was made even more meaningful as representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Patnongon through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist headed by Bernardita F. Salvador, and Patnongon Corn Farmers Association (PACOFA) officers attended as invited guests, demonstrating cross-municipal solidarity and support for regional agricultural initiatives.

SUCCESSFUL LIVESTOCK HEALTH & BREEDING DRIVE IN BRGY. SAMALAGUE!

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Patnongon, in continuous collaboration with the Provincial Veterinary Office (ProVet) - Antique, successfully conducted a comprehensive veterinary outreach activity for cattle and carabao raisers in Barangay Samalague, Patnongon, Antique!

📋 SERVICES RENDERED:
🔍 Pregnancy Diagnosis: Evaluated breeding cows and carabaos to monitor herd health and reproductive performance.
🧬 Artificial Insemination (AI): Administered genetic improvement techniques to boost livestock quality and productivity in the community.
🪱 Deworming: Treated farm animals against internal parasites to enhance nutrition absorption and weight gain.
🧪 Vitamin Administration: Provided essential vitamin boosters to improve overall health, disease resistance, and vitality.

Heartfelt thanks to the Barangay Officials of Samalague, local livestock raisers, and the dedicated veterinary teams who made this activity a success!

Empowering our families through Sustainable Farming!

A total of 60 enthusiastic parents from Lirio M. Escano National High School successfully completed a Training on Sustainable Agriculture, a Local Government Unit of Patnongon initiative under the Organic Agriculture Program through the Municipal Agriculture Office.

The activity kicked off with preliminaries, an inspirational message delivered by SB Gemma Cepeda on behalf of Municipal Mayor Hon. Johnnyflores Bacongallo, as well as words of encouragement from Municipal Agriculturist Mrs. Bernardita Salvador (MGDH I), Hon. Felix Gregorio Barrientos-SB Committee on Agriculture expressed his support.

Participants also shared their expectations during the session facilitated by Ms. Mary Grace Magalay and Ms. Daisy Mae Estanol.

During the training proper, experts from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) led discussions and hands-on guidance on essential organic farming practices:

✔️Organic Farming on Vegetable Production
✔️ Preparation of Concoctions
✔️Home Gardening Practices

The program featured an interactive "Pass the ball & answer" game, an evaluation and feedback session, participant impressions, and the distribution of Certificates of Recognition.

The event concluded by leaving everyone inspired to bring organic and sustainable farming methods to their homes and backyards!

INTERNSHIP ALERT! 📣

The Department of Agriculture (DA)-National Organic Agriculture Program, in partnership with the DA - Agricultural Training Institute, is now accepting youth interns and farm partners applicants for the Youth Internship Program on Organic Agriculture (YIPOA) for FY 2027-2028 (Batch 5).

YIPOA is designed to instill and develop their appreciation and eagerness to organic agriculture and eventually adopt this practice as their source of income. Implemented through the Institute’s network of training centers, YIPOA is a 21-month internship program, consisting of:

a) 9-month on-farm internship with the chosen farm partner whose operation matches the proposed organic business/enterprise of the intern, and

b) a 12-month enterprise implementation.

MUNICIPAL AGRICULTURAL AND FISHERY COUNCIL (MAFC) RE-ELECTION 🌾🐟

Earlier today, the Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) successfully conducted its Re-Election and Oath-Taking Ceremony, marking a renewed commitment to the advancement of our local agricultural and fishery sectors.

The program commenced with a solemn opening prayer led by Reign Jed Espartero, setting a meaningful tone for the event.

Bernardita Salvador, our dedicated Municipal Agriculturist, warmly welcomed all the council members, stakeholders, and guests, highlighting the vital role of the MAFC in driving sustainable growth for our local farmers and fisherfolk.

Representing our supportive Local Chief Executive, Mr. Gregorio Gumawa delivered an inspiring message on behalf of our Municipal Mayor Johnnyflores S. Bacongallo, reaffirming the local government's unwavering support for agricultural programs and rural development.

Following the opening messages, the assembly proceeded to the Election Proper, where leaders were democratically chosen to steer the council forward.

Right after the results were finalized, Municipal Vice Mayor Thomas Bacaoco officially administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected MAFC officers, challenging them to serve with integrity and dedication.

The productive event concluded with a motivating closing remark from Mr. Noel Salvan, who thanked everyone for their active participation and looked forward to a fruitful term ahead.

📄 Mga Kinahanglanon (Documentary Requirements):
1. Accomplished application form
2. Clear scanned copy of any valid government-issued ID (indicating the date of birth)
3. Authenticated copy of PSA Birth Certificate
4. Notarized Sworn Statement as proof of willingness and commitment to undertake organic agriculture-related activities/enterprises after the training;
5. Simplified Business Plan
6. Medical certificate indicating “fit to work” and no underlying health condition or history of psychological disorder (ECG, Drug Test, and Chest X-ray)
7. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from a community leader (e.g., barangay captain, parish priest, school principal, civil society organization, farmers’ cooperative or association) of good community standing and has no proven derogatory record
Others: Training certificates (certified true copy), if available, and Certification from the last school attended, if applicable
8. Proof of land for the establishment of the business/enterprise plan (i.e., owned, leased, rented, or donated); or certification of land availability for the planned business/enterprise from the LGU/ATI RTC based on validation
