In observance of World Population Day 2026, the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region VI, together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Philippines, reaffirms its commitment to advancing the rights, well-being, and aspirations of the youth in Western Visayas.

With this year's observance highlighting the importance of investing in young people, CPD Region VI calls on local government units, national government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organizations, parents, and communities to strengthen collaborative efforts in creating safe, inclusive, and enabling environments where every young person can learn, grow, and realize their full potential.

As emphasized by Regional Director Harold Alfred P. Marshall, despite the challenges faced by today's youth—including school violence and other social concerns—we must continue to listen to their voices, protect their rights, and provide meaningful opportunities that empower them to become productive and responsible members of society.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊 | 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The Iloilo Provincial Population Office – Municipality of Pavia, together with its Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) and Population Office staff, conducted a Learning Visit and Benchmarking Activity at the Office of the Provincial Population Officer headed by Atty. Ruel Von Superio and at the Municipal Population Offices of Dumangas and Zarraga, led by Ms. Reajean D. Calibar and Ms. Hazel Defensor, respectively.

The activity provided valuable insights and best practices in Population Data Banking and Management to further strengthen data management, records maintenance, and the implementation of population and development programs in the Municipality of Pavia.

As part of the activity, the BSPOs also visited Barangay Burgos-Regidor, Dumangas, Iloilo, where they observed the management and utilization of the barangay statistical data board through the support of Punong Barangay Ariel Alcantara and BSPO Ms. Jean Palmes. The Municipality of Dumangas was recognized as the 1st Place Best-Managed Population Data Bank in 2025, while the Municipality of Zarraga earned the Grand Slam Award for Best-Managed Population Data Bank from 2022 to 2024. These best practices will serve as valuable references in enhancing Pavia's own data banking initiatives.

The office extends its sincere appreciation to Mayor Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta for his continued support through the provision of transportation, and to Atty. Ruel Von Superio, Ms. Janel Tejida-Alegata, Ms. Hayde Padilla, Ms. Ma. Airis S. Penetrante, and Ms. Ruth Lujan for their guidance, warm accommodation, and unwavering support throughout the activity.

Through shared learning and collaboration, the Pavia Population Office remains committed to delivering responsive, data-driven, and people-centered population and development programs.

08 July 2026 - The dedicated Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) of the Municipality of Pavia led by PPO I Ms. Lalaine Kay E. Decado, visited the Office of the Provincial Population Officer of the Province of Iloilo for a learning visit aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the Province's Population and Development (POPDEV) programs, initiatives, and best practices.

During the visit, Provincial Population Officer Atty. Ruel Von D. Superio and our personnel shared the various programs and services of the office, with special emphasis on the indispensable role of BSPOs as frontliners in bringing population and development programs closer to every community.

Their vital contribution to the Population Data Banking and Management Program was likewise highlighted, recognizing them as trusted partners in generating reliable data that guide informed planning and decision-making.

To our BSPOs from Pavia, thank you for your unwavering commitment to public service and for continuously striving to learn, grow, and serve. Together, we move forward in building a more empowered, informed, and resilient Province of Iloilo ✨

📍2nd Floor Farmers' Building, Pavia, Iloilo

The Iloilo Provincial Population Office - Municipality of Pavia successfully conducted an Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program (AHYDP) lecture for young learners in collaboration with the 4H (Hand, Head, Heart, and Health) Program.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Barry Basiya and Ms. Lalaine Kay E. Decado, Population Program Officers of Leganes and Pavia, respectively. Through interactive discussions and activities, the learners gained a better understanding of puberty, body changes, self-care, healthy habits, and proper hygiene. They also learned the proper scientific terms for the male and female reproductive organs, helping them become more comfortable discussing reproductive health with respect and without stigma.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Leah Anatan Calambro of the Agriculture Office for her warm accommodation, valuable partnership, and unwavering support through the 4H Program.

Together, we continue to nurture informed, healthy, and responsible young learners.

📍Brgy. Tigum, Pavia, Iloilo

The Iloilo Provincial Population Office - Municipality of Pavia successfully conducted an Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program (AHYDP) lecture for the Grade 5 learners of Tigum Applied Nutrition Program (ANP) Pilot Elementary School.

The lecture was facilitated by Ms. Lalaine Kay E. Decado, Population Program Officer I, who served as the subject matter expert, with the assistance of Ms. Amy Projillo, Population Office Staff, and Ms. Juvelyn Heria, Barangay Service Point Officer (BSPO).

The activity aimed to provide age-appropriate information on puberty, body changes, self-care, healthy habits, and proper hygiene, empowering young adolescents to make informed and responsible choices as they grow.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Sandra Macasio, Grade 5 class adviser, for her warm accommodation and for allowing us to conduct the program.

Together, we continue to nurture informed, healthy, and responsible young learners.

The Iloilo Provincial Population Office - Municipality of Pavia extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Melinda G. Dela Cruz and Ms. Suzette C. Lechugas, Child Development Workers of Brgy. Pandac, for allowing Ms. Lalaine Kay E. Decado and Ms. Hazel Defensor, Population Program Officers of Pavia and Zarraga, respectively, to conduct the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) Lecture for the day care parents. We sincerely appreciate your support and collaboration in making this activity possible.

The activity was also graced by the presence of Ms. Ma. Airis S. Penetrante, District II Supervisor and Population Program Officer II.

🌱 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐌 𝐏𝐏𝐎, 𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐌 𝐁𝐒𝐏𝐎. 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐑 𝐃𝐀𝐘! 🌳

In celebration of Arbor Day 2026, the Iloilo Provincial Population Office - Municipality of Pavia, together with twenty-eight (28) Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) and Population Office staff, participated in a tree-planting activity on June 25, 2026 at Eco Park, Brgy. Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo, in collaboration and coordination with the Pavia Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).

A total of 130 fruit-bearing tree seedlings (45 Cacao, 40 Langka, 25 Dalandan, 10 Avocado, and 10 Star Apple) were planted during the activity, symbolizing our collective commitment to environmental conservation, food sustainability, and a greener future for the community.

Special thanks to Brgy. Balabag, led by Kap Helen Maquiling, together with Mr. Lester John Gargoles, MENRO staff, and all their colleagues from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), for their invaluable support and assistance in the successful conduct of the activity.

The activity forms part of the “Tanum PPO, Tanum BSPO: Growing a Better Tomorrow in Support of Tanum Iloilo” initiative, which aims to strengthen environmental stewardship and encourage active community participation in preserving and protecting our natural resources.

By planting trees today, we are investing in a healthier environment and a more sustainable tomorrow for future generations.
