On August 5, 2026, the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) – Pensumil District, in cooperation with the Regional Crop Protection Center - DA RFU 5 and Pensumil Inc., conducted the Red-Striped Soft Scale Insect (RSSI) Forum at De Asis Hall, RTTCC Building, DA-RFU 5, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur. The activity aimed to raise awareness among sugarcane farmers and stakeholders on the identification, monitoring, management, and control of Red-Striped Soft Scale Insect (RSSI).

On going Cost of Production Survey for Crop Year 2025-2026 to members of Del Rosario Block Farm Association (DRBFA). It aims to determine the actual production costs, profitability, and economic performance of sugarcane farming. The information generated serves as a basis for policy formulation, research, extension programs, farm management decisions, and the development of strategies to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the sugar industry.

Also conducted information dissemination on the Red Striped Soft-Scale Insect (RSSI) to increase awareness of its identification, potential impacts, preventive measures, and appropriate management practices.

Shaping the Future of Our Sugar Industry

On July 1, 2026, PENSUMIL sugarcane stakeholders representatives, representing Block Farms, Non-Block Farms, and Mid/Big Planters, took part in the vital Sectoral Stakeholders Engagement Workshop for Luzon, held in Tagaytay City.

The activity was a powerful collaborative effort to drive the Sugarcane Industry Strategic Planning and update the Sugarcane Industry Roadmap.

No matter the size of the farm, our goal remains the same: a resilient, thriving, and sweet future for the entire sugarcane industry.

Thank you to all our farmers, planters, and stakeholders who dedicated their time in Tagaytay to represent our community with pride and vision!

On June 22, 2026, Field Surveyor Ramon Jester Lauang and Block Farm Technical Officer Christian Aquino conducted a field monitoring and site inspection in the reported pest-infested sugarcane area of Mr. Nicanor Clasio III. During the activity, pest samples were collected and submitted to the Department of Agriculture – Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC), San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur, for laboratory analysis.

Based on the laboratory results, the pests were identified as Sugarcane Aphids (Melanaphis sp.) and Common Armyworm (Mythimna sp.). The findings served as the basis for recommending appropriate integrated pest management (IPM) measures to minimize crop damage and prevent further infestation.
