BRIEF HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

The library was housed at the administration building from 1969 until 1983. Demetria Balanay was the Junior Librarian from 1962-1977 and School Librarian from
1978 until her retirement on 1980? On February 23, 1983, a new library building was completed with a project cost
of Php 1,750,000.00.
It was funded by the USAID through CSSAC-AEOP Project under
the administration of President Alvaro R. The library has a total area of 528 square
meters which is strategically located at the heart of the main campus. After the retirement of Mrs. Balanay she was followed by Mrs. Adoracion Villareal
wherein she continues to build the collection of the library in support of the various
curricular offerings of then CSSAC. Villareal, her assistant
chief librarian was promoted to Chief Librarian in the person of Mrs. Marquez, under her leadership; the library was starting to undergo a process of
accreditation for the various curricular programs of the College for the Accrediting
Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). On October 12, 2009 the former state college named Camarines Sur State
Agricultural College (CSSAC) has gained its university hood through the power of RA
9717 under its new name, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA). With its new status as university, the University Library was challenge to
contribute its share to sustain the university hood of the CBSUA, with this challenge, we
are continuously acquire related printed resources in support to the various curricular
offerings of the university, such printed resources includes: books, journals, magazines,
newspapers, pamphlets, leaflets, and the like. In addition, we also acquire various
audio-visual materials as additional reference materials of the clienteles, which includes:
DVD tapes, maps, globe, charts, posters, and the like. On June 1, 2012, Mr. Rolando P. Oloteo was promoted to College Librarian III
and designated as the Head of the University Library. His leadership is being supported
by a staff composed of; licensed librarians, bookbinder, administrative aides and
student assistants. In respond to the demands of times in terms of library resources, the University
Library is investing on e-resources, like: e-books, e-journals and other e-references
database both subscribed and open source. Furthermore, the University Library is
equipped with ICT infrastructure and equipment in order to sustain the uses of the
various e- resources and digitized resources. In the quest for efficiency of library service to clienteles, the University Library
employs an automation system for convenient uses of the transactions in the library.
