Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro - Crime prevention does not always begin with a police response—it can start with a conversation, a warning, or a student learning how to recognize a risk before it becomes a problem.

As part of the 32nd National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW), the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office (ORMIN PPO), under the leadership of PCOL EDISON V REVITA, Provincial Director, continues to strengthen its efforts to bring crime prevention closer to the people, particularly the youth.

Through the Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU), led by PLTCOL JOEL G PANINGBATAN, Chief PCADU, the ORMIN PPO conducts lectures in schools and communities across the province—creating spaces where young people can ask questions, understand emerging threats, and learn how they can become part of the solution.

At the Southwestern Institute of Business and Technology, Inc. (SIBTECH), PCpl Cheyserr Anne R Arriola engaged with the BS Criminology students in a discussion on Emerging Crime Trends Affecting Students, focusing on the changing risks that young people may encounter in their daily lives.

The discussion went beyond simply identifying crimes. It emphasized awareness, vigilance, responsible decision-making, and knowing when and where to seek help. Students were also reminded that protecting themselves and their peers is not solely the responsibility of the police—it is a shared responsibility that begins with being informed and alert.

By bringing these conversations directly into schools and communities, the police aim not only to raise awareness but also to build a culture where prevention becomes part of everyday life.

Because a safer community starts with people who know the risks, understand their role, and choose to act before crime happens.

The ORMIN PPO extends its sincere appreciation to the administration and students of SIBTECH for their warm welcome, active participation, and support for its initiatives.

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro - Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, under the leadership of PBGEN Christopher R. Dela Cruz, Regional Director, arrested two individuals and seized approximately five grams of suspected shabu and 14 rounds of ammunition in a buy-bust operation in Cajidiocan, Romblon, on September 2, 2026.

The operation was conducted at about 9:50 p.m. in Sitio Puntaki, Barangay Poblacion, Cajidiocan, by personnel of the Cajidiocan Municipal Police Station (MPS), under the supervision of PCPT Mary Jade Gaca, Officer-in-Charge, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Romblon Provincial Office.

The joint operation resulted in the recovery of one elongated heat-sealed sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, which was the subject of the drug transaction, along with 12 additional heat-sealed sachets containing a similar substance.

The suspected dangerous drugs recovered during the operation had an estimated total weight of five grams and a standard drug price of approximately ₱34,000.

Operatives also recovered five rounds of caliber 9mm ammunition and nine rounds of caliber .38 ammunition, for a total of 14 rounds of ammunition.

Other recovered items included five crumpled strips of aluminum foil, two lighters with improvised burners, one rolled aluminum foil, one blue pouch, one brown coin purse, one open plastic sachet, and two ₱500 bills used as marked money during the operation.

The suspected illegal drugs will be brought to the Romblon Forensic Unit in Odiongan, Romblon, for qualitative examination, while the arrested individuals will likewise undergo drug testing.

Charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Section 3(b) of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being prepared for filing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor for inquest proceedings.

PBGEN Dela Cruz commended the operating units for their coordinated efforts, emphasizing the importance of sustained intelligence-driven operations against illegal drugs and other unlawful activities that threaten public safety.

“We will continue to intensify our coordinated efforts against illegal drugs and other unlawful activities that threaten our communities, while ensuring that every operation is conducted with professionalism, accountability, and strict adherence to the law,” PBGEN Dela Cruz said.

The arrested individuals are currently under the custody of Cajidiocan MPS for documentation and proper disposition.

The operation highlights PRO MIMAROPA’s continuing efforts to disrupt the illegal drug trade and prevent the proliferation of unauthorized fi****ms and ammunition through sustained intelligence-driven and coordinated law enforcement operations under the F.I.G.H.T. C.R.I.M.E.S. framework.

On September 2, PCpl Maria Fe O Jandulong conducted a lecture at ABADA College focusing on Mental Health and Violence Prevention. The discussion emphasized the importance of mental well-being, early recognition of warning signs, and proactive measures to prevent violence among students and within the wider community.

When we understand the problem early, we have a better chance of preventing it from becoming a crime.

Ang haze ay kondisyon kung saan naiipon sa hangin ang maliliit na particle gaya ng usok, alikabok, at iba pang pollutants, na maaaring magdulot ng malabong tanawin at pagbaba ng kalidad ng hangin. Kapag matagal nang nalalanghap, maaari itong makaapekto sa kalusugan.

Kaugnay nito, hinikayat ng Provincial Health Office (PHO) ng Oriental Mindoro ang mga residente na manatiling mapagmatyag at magsagawa ng mga kinakailangang pag-iingat laban sa posibleng epekto sa kalusugan ng haze at air pollution.

⚠️ Maaaring idulot ng haze ang:
• Ubo at pamamalat
• Pangangati ng mata, ilong at lalamunan
• Sakit ng ulo at pagkahilo
• Hirap sa paghinga
• Paglala ng asthma at iba pang kondisyon sa baga at puso

🛡️Para sa kaligtasan:
• Iwasan muna ang mga hindi kailangang outdoor activities.
• Magsuot ng N95 o katumbas na mask kung kinakailangang lumabas.
• Uminom ng sapat na tubig.
• Panatilihing sarado ang mga bintana at pintuan kung kinakailangan.
• Mag-ingat sa mga bata, senior citizens, at mga may respiratory o heart conditions.

Kung makaranas ng matinding hirap sa paghinga o iba pang seryosong sintomas, agad na humingi ng medical assistance.

Sa panahon ng haze, huwag ipagsawalang-bahala ang kalidad ng hangin. Manatiling alerto, mag-ingat, at unahin ang kalusugan.
