WEATHER UPDATE⚠️

TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVISORY NR. 5
Tropical Storm JANGMI
Issued at 11:00 AM, 28 May 2026
Valid for broadcast until the next advisory at 11:00 PM today.

TROPICAL STORM JANGMI MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE NORTH NORTHWESTWARD.

Location of Center (10:00 AM)

The center of Tropical Storm JANGMI was estimated based on all available data at 1,135 km East of Eastern Visayas (OUTSIDE PAR) (12.7°N, 135.8°E).

Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa.

Present Movement:
North northwestward at 30 km/h

Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 380 km from the center

GENERAL OUTLOOK FOR THE FORECAST PERIOD
• JANGMI will continue moving north northwestward today until it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight or tomorrow (29 May) early morning. Once inside the PAR, it will be given a local name DOMENG. For the remainder of the forecast period, JANGMI will move generally northwestward to northward while over the Philippine Sea far from Philippine landmass and will exit PAR on Monday (01 June).
• JANGMI will continue to intensify and may reach Typhoon category on Saturday (30 May). This tropical cyclone may reach its peak intensity between Saturday and Sunday (31 May) while over the Philippine Sea. Afterwards, JANGMI is expected to steadily weaken.
• This weather disturbance is less likely to make landfall over the country. Due to the eastward shift of the latest forecast track, the hoisting of tropical cyclone wind signal over Extreme Northern Luzon is becoming less likely, but not ruled out.
• Moderate to rough sea conditions may be experienced over the seaboards of Extreme Northern Luzon this weekend. Raising of gale warning over the area is also possible.
• This tropical cyclone will likely enhance the southwesterly windflow starting on Saturday.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to continue monitoring for updates related to this tropical cyclone.

Unless there is an intermediate issuance, the next tropical cyclone advisory will be issued at 11:00 PM today.
