RO Personnel Evaluate Tappo VHS for Senior High School Program Proposal
Officials from the DepEd Regional Office (RO) conducted a comprehensive on-site assessment of Tappo Vocational High School today, May 6, 2026, to evaluate the school's formal proposal to offer a Senior High School (SHS) program.
The monitoring team was led by Elvernise S. Fanged, Education Program Supervisor from the Quality Assurance Division, and John Ray Bugnay of the Administrative Division. They were assisted by a technical team including Planning Officer Estrelita Lacuesta, and Education Program Supervisors Maribel Latawan and Jovy Dugayon (Special Needs Education and Kindergarten). Carolina L. Baggay, Public Schools District Supervisor, was also present to facilitate the evaluation.
Leading the school during the assessment was newly appointed School Head Neil Mina, Principal 1, who reaffirmed the school’s commitment to expanding learning opportunities for its students, together with the former School Head Maria Aileen L. Lawagan, whose dedication and preparatory work helped pave the way for the school’s Senior High School proposal.
During the stakeholders’ interview, community members and local leaders expressed strong support for the school’s proposal to offer Senior High School.
Elmo Bali, representing the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), assured the school of the barangay’s full support, emphasizing their willingness to provide manpower and assistance for future school projects whenever needed.
Meanwhile, Edralin Calngan shared that the proposed SHS program would greatly benefit learners in the community, especially those who currently travel long distances to enroll in other schools for Grades 11 and 12.
After reviewing the school’s documents and conducting interviews with stakeholders, the Regional Office team expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration between the school and the community in working toward accessible education.
While a few additional documents were requested for further evaluation, Tappo Vocational High School remains hopeful that the proposal will receive final approval before the opening of the next school year—opening new opportunities for learners in Apatan.
