The recently concluded courtesy visit of the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 Candidates brought unforgettable memories of togetherness and blissful celebration of beauty and talent as the Local Government Unit of Pozorrubio, headed by Hon. Mayor Kelvin T. Chan, welcomed the 43 candidates from the various provinces across the country, accompanied by the Miss Universe Philippines – Pangasinan production team.

The two-hour visit highlighted a Mabuhay Welcome Dance rendered by the Palguyod National High School students, photo opportunities with the MUPH candidates, the showcasing of One Town, One Products of Pozorrubio, and a production dance number of Swordsmith Street Dancing with the Miss Universe Candidates.

The Local Government Unit of Pozorrubio extends its warmest gratitude to Dr. Leslie I. Gascon and Mr. Gerry Gascon for a productive collaboration in pulling off a fun-filled Welcome Ceremony for the lovely candidates.

The Tourism, Culture, and the Arts Section likewise extends its profound gratitude to the following offices, whose invaluable assistance ensured that the event was marked by enjoyment, security, and the highest standards of safety and convenience:

February 14, 2026 | Just yesterday, local officials of the Local Government Unit of Pozorrubio headed by Hon. Municipal Mayor Kelvin T. Chan, along with the honorable Sangguniang Bayan Members headed by Hon. Vice – Mayor Maximiano R. Balelo, led the cutting of the ribbon for the official opening of the Love Lock Pathway as a permanent structure at the Pozorrubio – Iligan Friendship Park to engage the entire Pozorrubian community in celebrating the month of February as a season of love and creativity.

Attending the same event are the department heads of LGU-Pozorrubio and their respective staff and personnel, with the warm support of the Philippine National Police (PNP) - Pozorrubio Station headed by its Officer-in-Charge, PMaj. Napoleon M. Eleccion.

The Office of the Mayor -- Tourism, Culture and Arts Office would like to acknowledge the collective participation of various LGU offices for extending their helping hands in beautifying the Pozorrubio – Iligan Friendship Park : Municipal Engineering Office, MENRO personnel, Human Resource Office staff and trainees, Accounting Office trainees, Supply Office immersion students, staff, trainees, and Office of the Mayor admin. staff.

LGU Pozorrubio gladly invites all Pozorrubians and its neighboring towns to support the Love Lock Project as an additional attraction that is intended to boost tourism activity at the heart of the municipal plaza.

February 01, 2026 | Last January 31, 2026, members of the Advocates of Heritage Preservation, a private association from the City of Manila, visited the Municipality of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to learn about the locality’s most prized heritage sites that serve as tangible traces of its rich industrial and culinary heritage.

Hon. Municipal Mayor Kelvin T. Chan and Hon. Vice - Mayor Maximiano R. Balelo welcomed all tour participants which summed up to a total of 80 visitors inclusive of the members of the AHP as well as students from the Canadian Tourism and Hospitality Institute (CTHI).

Heritage sites visited in Pozorrubio were the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Church, GQ Blades Metal Handicrafts, Deswordzman Showroom, the Barangay Palacpalac Pasalubong Center and Gonzales’ Sugarcane Mill in Barangay Buneg.

The tour included a lecture of the history of the construction of the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Church, showcasing of the entire process of sword-making , viewing of Philippine and European – inspired blades as well as other locally made products of Pozorrubio and finally the actual patupat and sinakob-making at the sugarcane mill.

The Local Government Unit extends its warmest thanks to the following stakeholders and partners who made the tour possible:
