The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) reports the peaceful and orderly observance of Labor Day on May 1, 2026, across Western Visayas, with no incident reported.

Approximately 685 rallyists participated in various activities across the region with notable gatherings held in Iloilo City, Capiz, and Aklan. All events were conducted in a generally peaceful atmosphere, reflecting the cooperation, discipline, and responsible engagement of both participants and organizers.

PRO6 ensured maximum police visibility and strategic deployment of personnel to safeguard the public while upholding the constitutional right to peaceful assembly. Close coordination with local government units, partner agencies, and rally organizers contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of all activities.

POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of PRO6, commended all stakeholders for their role in maintaining peace and order throughout the day.

Iloilo – Authorities arrested a 28-year-old woman and confiscated illicit ci******es worth PhP272,658.00 during an entrapment operation conducted at Brgy. Poblacion Zone II, Estancia, Iloilo, at around 1:45 PM on May 1, 2026.

The suspect, identified as alias “Teray,” a resident of the said barangay, was apprehended by operatives of the Iloilo Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA) following a successful buy-bust operation.

During the operation, an undercover operative was able to purchase two packs of ci******es from the suspect for PhP200.00. Upon inspection, the items were found to be non-compliant, lacking the required Graphic Health Warnings and excise tax stamps issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Subsequently, a search incidental to a lawful arrest led to the recovery of approximately 360 reams of assorted illicit ci******es with an estimated total value of PhP272,658.00, along with the marked money used in the operation.

The suspect was arrested for violation of Section 6 of Republic Act 10643 (Graphic Health Warnings Law) and Republic Act 8424, also known as the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) of 1997, as amended, particularly Sections 262 (Unlawful Possession or Removal of Articles Subject to Excise Tax) and 263 (Unlawful Use, Possession, or Sale of Tax Stamps).

Western Visayas police chief, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN praised the operating team for a successful operation.

“Your Western Visayas police remains steadfast in its campaign against the proliferation of illegal products that threaten public health and government revenue. We commend the operating units for their dedication in upholding the law,” said PBGEN LIGAN.

She is currently under the custody of authorities for proper disposition, while appropriate charges are being prepared for filing in court.

Police authorities reiterated their commitment to intensify operations against illegal products, which pose risks to public health and negatively affect government revenue.

Antique – Region’s top 3 most wanted person for the crime of Robbery with Homicide (RPC Art. 294) was arrested by the authorities in Brgy. Lugta, Laua-an, Antique at about 12:00 PM of May 1, 2026.

Alias “Jam,” 23 years old, a native of Antipolo City and a resident of Laua-an, Antique, was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by RTC Branch 13, Culasi, Antique, dated April 29, 2026, with no bail recommended. He is also tagged as Top 3 most wanted person at the Provincial Level and Top 1 at the Municipal Level.

Alias “Jam” was arrested by the tracker team of Culasi Municipal Police Station together with the personnel of Laua-an MPS and the 2nd Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Police Regional Office 6 top cop, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSEFINO D LIGAN, commended the operating units for the successful arrest.

Iloilo City – Region 6 top 1 most wanted person for multiple cases was arrested through the collective efforts of Western and Eastern Visayas police at about 6:30 AM on May 1, 2026, in Sitio Palawan, Brgy. Borac, Naval, Biliran, Region VIII (Eastern Visayas).

The accused, alias “Ed,” 53 years old, a construction foreman and resident of Naval, Province of Biliran, was previously residing in Sebaste, Atique. He is listed as Top 1 Most Wanted Person at both the provincial and municipal levels.

He was arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest for the following cases: five (5) counts of Frustrated Murder; Multiple Murder and Multiple Attempted Murder dated February 23, 1993; Multiple Frustrated Murder dated June 30, 1993; Robbery with Homicide dated June 5, 1993; and Destructive Arson under Art. 320 of the Revised Penal Code as amended by PD 1613 and 1744 dated June 23, 2025, all issued by RTC, 6th Judicial Region, Branch 13, Culasi, Antique.

All criminal cases carry a total recommended bail of PhP 1,015,000.00.

The operating team was composed of elements from Sebaste Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit 6, Provincial Intelligence Team–Antique, and the 2nd Antique Provincial Mobile Force Company, with the support of Naval MPS, Biliran, Region VIII.

Iloilo - The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6), through the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, apprehended the region’s No. 2 most wanted person for charges of Statutory R**e and Acts of Lasciviousness in violation of Republic Act No. 7610. The arrest took place in Barangay San Jose, Di**le, Iloilo at around 4:50 PM on May 4, 2026.

The suspect, identified by the alias “Dariel,” 24 years old, a laborer and resident of Di**le, Iloilo, was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on May 4, 2026 by the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 6 in PD Monfort North, Dumangas, Iloilo. No bail was recommended for the charge of Statutory R**e, while bail was set at PhP180,000.00 for the charge of Acts of Lasciviousness.

The operation was conducted by personnel of the Di**le Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Special Operations Group Team 2 of IPPO.

Iloilo — A Top 5 Most Wanted Person at the regional level was arrested in a joint law enforcement operation on the morning of May 5, 2026, in Barangay Cau-ayan, Pototan, Iloilo.

The suspect, identified as alias “Totoy,” 20, single, and a resident of the said barangay, was apprehended by operatives of the Pototan Municipal Police Station, with support from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Special Operations Group Team 2, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for statutory r**e. The warrant was issued on May 4, 2026 by the Family Court of Branch 6, Regional Trial Court, Dumangas, Iloilo, with no bail bond recommended for his temporary liberty.

Police Brigadier General JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6, emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable sectors of society and ensuring that justice is served.

“This arrest shows our determination to go after those who take advantage of the vulnerable. We will continue to track them down and ensure they face the consequences of their actions. Let this be a clear message, no one can hide from the law,” PBGENLIGAN said.

Iloilo — A joint anti-illegal drugs operation conducted by operatives of the Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 2, Di**le Municipal Police Station, and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) resulted in the arrest of two drug personalities and the confiscation of approximately 140 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PhP952,000.00 on May 4, 2026, at around 5:00 PM in Barangay Tabugon, Di**le, Iloilo.

Arrested were alias “Toto,” identified as a High-Value Individual (HVI) and a barangay tanod, and alias “Nonoy,” a Street-Level Individual (SLI) working as a welder. Both are residents of the said barangay.

Recovered during the operation were seven (7) sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and other non-drug items.
Police Brigadier General JOSEFINO D LIGAN, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6, commended the operating units for their decisive action and reiterated the organization’s firm stance against illegal drugs.

“This operation shows our firm commitment to keep our communities safe from the dangers of illegal drugs. We will continue to pursue those involved, no matter who they are or what their status in life may be. This serves as a clear warning, sooner or later, the law will catch up with anyone who chooses to engage in this illegal activity,” PBGEN LIGAN said.

Charges for violation of Sections 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs), 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs), and 26 (Conspiracy) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the arrested individuals. These offenses carry a penalties of life imprisonment and fines ranging from PhP500,000.00 to PhP10,000,000.00.

Iloilo City – Two individuals were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo, Iloilo City at around 11:35 PM on May 4, 2025, resulting in the confiscation of approximately 80 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated Standard Drug Price of PhP544,000.00.

The suspects were identified by their aliases “PJ,” 34 years old and classified as a high-value individual, and “Bro,” 39 years old and tagged as a street-level individual. Both are residents of Arevalo, Iloilo City. They were apprehended following three weeks of surveillance and monitoring and were reportedly operating within Iloilo City.

Recovered during the operation were nineteen (19) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu; buy-bust and proceeds money; two (2) Android cellular phones; and other non-drug items.

The operation was spearheaded by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU 6), with support from the Regional Intelligence Division 6, Philippine Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 6, and Iloilo City Police Station 6.

The suspects are now under police custody and will face appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, particularly Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 26 (Conspiracy to Commit Illegal Drug Offenses). These offenses carry the penalty of life imprisonment and a fine ranging from PhP500,000.00 to PhP10,000,000.00.
