STA. JOSEFA, AGUSAN DEL SUR—In a significant step towards empowering local farmers, the Sta. Josefa Unified Calamansi Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative (SJUCFARC) actively participate in a financial management seminar for 20 of its members on September 8, 2025. The event, held at the CSO Building in Poblacion, Sta. Josefa, was spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP). Titled "Financial Management: Budgeting and Cash Flow Management," the seminar aimed to equip agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) with the knowledge to effectively manage their finances and grow their livelihoods.

The training provided a practical, hands-on approach to personal and business finance. Participants were guided through the use of a simplified cashbook, applying it to a real-world scenario of a farmer tracking income and expenses. This exercise underscored the importance of meticulous record-keeping. Key discussions centered on optimizing cash flow, identifying lucrative opportunities, and making informed decisions about when to invest earnings or when to responsibly take on debt. The activity emphasized that these fundamental skills are vital for transforming farming from a subsistence activity into a more profitable and sustainable enterprise.

This capacity-building initiative is a component of DTI-Agusan del Sur's commitment to the unified plan with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in supporting the needs of ARBs. By enhancing the financial literacy of Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs), the government aims to foster the growth of their cooperatives and ensure long-term economic stability. Ultimately, the DTI believes that these skills will not only improve the individual income of farmers but also fortify the entire rural economy within the province.

Empowering Farmers: A Leap Towards Financial Sustainability

SAN FRANCISCO, AGUSAN DEL SUR – Fifteen Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from the Sta. Ana Ladgadan Agriculture Cooperative (SALADAC) took a significant step toward financial empowerment by participating in a seminar on Financial Management: Budgeting and Cash Flow Management. The event, held on August 6, 2025, was initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur, through its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

The seminar provided ARBs with crucial skills to manage their finances, enabling them to build more sustainable operations and secure a brighter future. By focusing on practical budgeting and cash flow techniques, the program aims to equip farmers with the tools to navigate market challenges and optimize their income.

Mr. Arnold Casineco, one of the participants, highlighted the seminar's impact, stating, "This seminar has a big impact on me. No matter how hard we farm, without proper recording and budgeting, we will still struggle because we don't know how our income is spent. This seminar reminds me of the importance of recording and budgeting.

JUST IN | ROG Usec. Blesila Lantayona delivered a message of support to CARP regional and provincial implementers during the 2025 Mid-Year Performance Review, Assessment, and CARP Kiosk Benchmarking held at Citadines Bay City on July 2, 2025.

In her address, the Undersecretary acknowledged the measurable gains achieved during the first half of the year, highlighting that these outcomes represent not merely programmatic success but the tangible transformation of agrarian reform communities through enterprise development. She emphasized that the DTI-CARP Program continues to be a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the countryside.

Commending the implementers' perseverance amid operational challenges, she called for the continued integration of strategic community-based interventions that strengthen rural enterprises and expand opportunities for CARPreneurs.

“As we move into the second semester, let us stay grounded in our mission and scale our impact through unified, purposeful action” she emphasized.

The mid-year activity served as a platform to assess regional performance, promote knowledge sharing, and align strategic directions toward the program’s long-term objectives of poverty reduction and rural economic empowerment.

On May 21, 2025 | DTI Agusan del Sur, in partnership with DAR Agusan del Sur, trained 20 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Visual Merchandising and Basic Entrepreneurship that was held in ABC Hall Barangay 3, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. A key component of the training focused on visual merchandising, teaching participants how to effectively display products, attract customers, and generate sales. This module is vital preparation for upcoming events like the Naliyagan Trade Fair (June 12-17, 2025) and the DAR AdS Pasegarbo Trade Fair (June 23-27, 2025), equipping ARBs to participate successfully in provincial, regional, and even national trade fairs.

Beyond product display, the ARBs also participated in the "EntrepFarming (Module 1)" training, an interactive entrepreneurship program. This training equipped them with crucial farm management skills, including production planning and sound financial management. Participants learned to develop budgets, track income and expenses, and make informed financial decisions.

By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, this DTI Agusan del Sur initiative empowers ARBs to view their farms as competitive businesses. The program aims to help them identify new market opportunities, overcome challenges, significantly increase their farm income, and contribute to the economic growth of their communities.

Look: DTI AgSur trains Imelda farmers through ENTREFARM entrepreneurship game

BUNAWAN, Agusan del Sur - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Sur, through its Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Imelda, conducted a game-based entrepreneurship training for local farmers on May 6, 2025.

20 members from Nagkahiusang Mag-uuma Alang sa Repormang Kalambuang Agraryo, Inc. (NAMARKA) actively participated in the in the session held in Barangay Imelda. The training featured the ENTREFARM Game, a specialized module that uses interactive gameplay to introduce basic entrepreneurship concepts to those in the agriculture sector.

The game is designed to instill farmers with the entrepreneurial skills necessary to view and manage their farms as profitable businesses. Through a hands-on, interactive experience directly relevant to their livelihoods, participants explored foundational business concepts.

Utilizing a "learning by doing" methodology, the farmers gained practical understanding of the importance of adding value to their products and the crucial role of cash flow in maintaining a successful farm-based enterprise.

The activity forms part of DTI’s efforts to boost agri-entrepreneurship and support agrarian reform beneficiaries in developing business competencies aligned with their livelihoods.
