𝟱𝟰𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗴 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘄 (𝗜𝗛𝗟) 𝗗𝗮𝘆

Camp Democrito O. Plaza, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – The 544th Engineer (Pioneers) Battalion, 52nd Engineer (Kaayadan) Brigade, Philippine Army, joined the Philippine Army-wide simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on 03 August 2026 in observance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day with the theme, “Pinalakas na Ugnayan at Pagkakaisa sa Pagsulong ng IHL.” As part of the observance, the Battalion conducted the display of IHL advocacy tarpaulins and the viewing of an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) to strengthen awareness of the principles and significance of International Humanitarian Law, reaffirming the Philippine Army’s commitment to promoting respect for human dignity, the rule of law, and responsible military service.

In his personal note, Ltc Fuentes emphasized the four fundamental principles of International Humanitarian Law: 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, which requires military personnel to always distinguish combatants from civilians; 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, which prohibits attacks when the expected harm to civilians would outweigh the anticipated military advantage; 𝐍𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 on proper evaluation of the target audiences; and 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, which mandates that all persons who are not, or are no longer, directly participating in hostilities be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion regardless of nationality, belief, or political affiliation. He underscored that adherence to these principles reflects the professionalism and discipline expected of every soldier while reinforcing the Battalion’s commitment to ethical military service and the protection of human rights.

The 10th Infantry "AGILA" Division, Philippine Army under Eastern Mindanao Command, AFP has deployed the 28th Infantry Battalion to support security preparations for the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections.

Further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the military and the healthcare sector, Ltc Allain Fuentes, Commanding Officer of the 544th Engineer (Pioneers) Battalion, attended the 2nd Anniversary Celebration of UNICARE Medical Clinic and the launching of the PhilHealth GAMOT Program on July 30, 2026 held at the UNICARE Medical Clinic, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

During the celebration, Ltc Fuentes delivered a testimony highlighting UNICARE’s invaluable contribution to the Battalion’s medical initiatives, recognizing the clinic’s volunteer healthcare professionals for their unwavering support during two consecutive medical outreach activities that provided free healthcare services to soldiers and their dependents. In his message, he expressed the Battalion’s sincere gratitude for UNICARE’s steadfast commitment in promoting the health and well-being of military personnel and their families. He also emphasized that the partnership exemplifies the spirit of collaboration between the Armed Forces and civilian healthcare institutions in delivering quality and accessible healthcare services. The event also served as an opportunity to congratulate UNICARE Medical Clinic on its second year of dedicated service and to highlight the Units’ commitment in strengthening its partnership in future humanitarian and community health initiatives.

CAMP D.O. PLAZA, Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur — The 544th Engineer (Pioneers) Battalion under the leadership of Ltc Allain Fuentes warmly welcomes Col Ervin Divinagracia, the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 52nd Engineer (Kaayadan) Brigade, Philippine Army, during his visit to the Battalion Headquarters at Camp D.O. Plaza, Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on July 29, 2026.

The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen command engagement and reaffirm the Brigade’s commitment in operational excellence, mission accomplishment, and professional development within the Battalion. During the engagement, Col Divinagracia was apprised of the Battalion’s ongoing and completed projects, operational accomplishments, and key initiatives supporting peace and socio-economic development across its area of responsibility. The activity also underscored the strong unity and shared commitment in delivering responsive engineer support and sustaining partnerships that contribute to nation-building.
