LOOK || Looking ahead to stronger community defense capabilities, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Danny C. Magaso, GSC, Director of the 1502 Community Defense Center (CDC), paid a courtesy call on Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr. today, August 5, at the Provincial Governor's Office in Patin-ay, Prosperidad.

The visit was followed by a site inspection of the newly constructed 1502CDC building, providing an opportunity to assess the facility that will support the center's operations and contribute to peace, public safety, and disaster preparedness initiatives in Agusan del Sur.

Today, the SOPA 2026 Technical Working Group and the Management Team convened to review the flow and key highlights of the Province's accomplishments for 2025–2026.

This year's SOPA goes beyond presenting programs, projects, activities, and interventions. It focuses on the results achieved, the outcomes realized, and the impact these initiatives have created across Agusan del Sur.

Behind every accomplishment is a commitment to ensure that the Province's progress is reflected not only in what was implemented, but in the difference it has made for its people.

To all athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts:

Please be advised of an important time schedule adjustment for the events scheduled on August 8, 2026, at the Sports-Oriented Gymnasium.

To better accommodate both disciplines, the original schedule of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM for both events has been revised to the following dedicated time slots:

LOOK || Day 2 of the Provincial Development Plan (PrDP) Workshop focused on analyzing the underlying factors that influence poverty and employment, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the province's development challenges.

During the session, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region III Regional Director Gina T. Gacusan presented the findings from a development study conducted in Luzon, highlighting why poverty can persist despite high labor force employment and why women's participation in the workforce remains lower than that of men. The discussion provided valuable insights into the complex social and economic issues that shape local development.

Building on these insights, Gacusan guided workshop participants through a problem analysis exercise, where the different groups identified core development issues, examined their root causes and corresponding effects based on the programs and projects implemented by the various Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS) departments, and identified potential strategies and interventions to address these challenges. The activity reinforced the Provincial Government's commitment to evidence-based and participatory planning in crafting a responsive, inclusive, and sustainable PrDP.

LOOK || Bringing justice closer to the people, the Public Attorney's Office (PAO)-Agusan del Sur continues to strengthen its legal workforce with the deployment of newly appointed lawyers to key district offices in the province.

The new lawyers formally met with Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr. during a courtesy visit today, August 5, highlighting the continued collaboration between PAO and the Provincial Government in ensuring that free legal services remain accessible, responsive, and people-centered.

With additional legal practitioners now serving the district offices in Prosperidad, Trento, and Bayugan City, PAO is poised to expand its delivery of legal counseling, notarization services, and court representation to more Agsurnons in need.

Every tax paid and every government due collected contributes to the province's continued growth. This was the key message during today's Department Information Officers (DIO) Hour, hosted by Sherwin G. Reyes, Administrative Assistant I of the Provincial Treasury Office (PTO), as the office highlighted its vital role in generating local revenues and ensuring the sound management of provincial funds.

The session underscored how the PTO serves as a steward of public resources by efficiently managing collections, safeguarding government funds, and promoting fiscal responsibility. Through transparent treasury operations and the timely collection of taxes and other government dues, the PTO helps provide the financial foundation for essential programs, infrastructure development, and quality public services that benefit every Agsurnon.
