Turning Vision into Action: PGNHS SGC Charts a Stronger Future Together
Puerto Galera National High School (PGNHS) reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative leadership and continuous school improvement as it successfully conducted the School Governance Council (SGC) Reorganization. The activity brought together key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and reinforce shared responsibility in achieving quality education.
The program began with an orientation led by Mam Evangeline M. Herrera, Head Teacher III and SGC Designated Co-Chairperson, who discussed the School Governance Council's purpose, roles and responsibilities, and the importance of participatory governance. She emphasized that the SGC serves as a vital platform where school leaders, teachers, parents, learners, alumni, and community partners work together in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs that support learner success.
Following the orientation, Dr. Victorino B. Agellon, Principal IV, presented the school's accomplishments during the first two months of the school year. He highlighted the positive impact of the TUPAD Program in maintaining school cleanliness and expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their invaluable support during the recently concluded Brigada Eskwela. He also encouraged attendees to visit the school and witness the ongoing improvements firsthand.
Dr. Agellon shared updates on key infrastructure projects, including the completion of the newly improved school stage, repairs of Grade 9 Pearl classroom and the SSLG Office, and the ongoing construction of genderized comfort rooms. He also presented the School Improvement Plan (SIP), which will be revisited to strengthen campus safety through the proposed procurement of an automatic metal detector. In support of learner security, he requested the assistance of at least two PTA parent volunteers in conducting learners' bag inspections.
Looking ahead, he unveiled plans for a mural of the PGNHS logo at the school's front fence, department-led learner development projects that promote holistic growth, and the upcoming Intramurals opening. He likewise acknowledged the Alumni Association for its continued support of school initiatives.
The activity concluded with the induction of the newly elected School Governance Council members, symbolizing a renewed commitment to shared leadership and stronger collaboration. Through active stakeholder participation and a unified vision, the PGNHS School Governance Council stands ready to build a safer, more inclusive, and future-ready learning environment for every learner.
