The spirit of youth leadership, learning, and camaraderie came alive as the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted the 2026 Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Summer Camp for the Central Business District – A Cluster on June 2-3, 2026 at Mia's Place and Cottages in Barangay Inagawan, Puerto Princesa City.

Gathering young leaders from various CBD-A barangays, alongside youth residents from the CSWD Group Homes for Children, the two-day camp served as a meaningful platform for personal growth, skills development, and building lasting friendships among participants.

The camp opened opportunities for learning through informative sessions designed to promote awareness, safety, and positive youth development. Participants actively engaged in a discussion on Bullying Awareness and Prevention, facilitated by SWO II Mary Jessa Mae P. Fulgar, which emphasized the importance of creating respectful and supportive environments for all young people. This was complemented by a session on Traffic Rules on Children's Safety conducted by SWO I Ruth R. Regla, equipping participants with practical knowledge on responsible behavior and safety in their daily lives.

As the sun set, the energy of the camp continued through the much-awaited Social Night, where participants showcased their creativity, confidence, and teamwork during the Yell Competition and PYAP Got Talent. The evening became a celebration of youth expression, talent, and unity, creating memorable experiences for everyone involved.

One of the most heartfelt moments of the camp was the interactive activity entitled "Connected Hearts, United Youth," facilitated by CSWDO Social Workers John Paul N. Rey and Jenny S. Guzman. Through guided reflection and meaningful sharing, participants were encouraged to connect with one another, express their experiences and emotions, and realize that every young person carries a unique story that deserves understanding and support.

The success of this activity was made possible through the collective efforts of various partners and stakeholders. The City Social Welfare and Development Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Barangay Council of Inagawan, headed by Hon. Ariel Lacao, for providing invaluable logistical and security assistance throughout the event. We likewise thank the Southeast Mini City Hall, the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PNP), the Philippine Coast Guard, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for their unwavering support and assistance in ensuring the safety, security, and transportation needs of the participants.

Special thanks are also extended to all the Barangay Officials, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials, and BCWPCs of the participating barangays for their continued partnership and commitment to advancing youth welfare and development.

As the camp concludes, the lessons learned, friendships forged, and experiences shared will continue to inspire these young leaders to become catalysts of positive change in their communities. Together, they embody the promise of a brighter future—empowered, united, and ready to lead.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) successfully conducted the 2026 Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Summer Camp for the Northwest Cluster on May 29-30, 2026, at the Covered Gym of Barangay Buenavista, bringing together PYAP members from the northeast barangays of Puerto Princesa City for two meaningful days of learning, leadership, and youth empowerment.

Anchored on the theme, “Empowering Hearts, Transforming Futures,” the camp served as a platform for young people to gain valuable knowledge, strengthen friendships, and develop a deeper sense of responsibility as future leaders of their communities.

The first day featured a series of informative and relevant learning sessions facilitated by dedicated resource speakers from the City Health Office. Participants actively engaged in discussions on Bullying Awareness and Prevention, as well as Promoting Self-Care and Preventing Self-Harm, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges faced by today's youth.

Further enriching the learning experience were sessions on Drug Abuse Prevention and Anti-Terrorism conducted by resource speakers from the City PNP Police Station 4. These discussions highlighted the importance of making informed decisions, promoting safety, and encouraging active participation in building peaceful and resilient communities.

As the sun set, participants showcased their creativity, teamwork, and talents during the Social Night, highlighted by the energetic Yell Competition and the much-anticipated PYAP Got Talent. The evening fostered camaraderie, confidence, and lasting memories among the young participants.

On the second day, the youth took part in an interactive and reflective activity entitled “Strengthening Bonds, Empowering Hearts,” which encouraged meaningful conversations, self-reflection, and deeper connections among participants. The activity underscored the importance of healthy relationships, empathy, and support systems in promoting the overall well-being of young people.

The success of this activity would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our partners: the City Health Office, Universal Health Care, Barangay Buenavista led by Hon. Ronnie Dela Cruz as the host barangay, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), and the Northeast Mini City Hall.

The CSWDO also extends its heartfelt gratitude to all Barangay Officials, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, Barangay Councils for the Welfare of Children (BCWPCs), volunteers, and stakeholders who contributed to the successful implementation of the camp.

Most importantly, we thank all PYAP members who participated with enthusiasm, openness, and commitment throughout the activity. Your active involvement made this gathering truly meaningful and inspiring.

As the camp concludes, may the lessons learned, friendships formed, and experiences shared continue to inspire our young people to become empowered individuals and responsible leaders in their communities.

For two meaningful days, from May 26-27, 2026, the Covered Gym of Barangay Maoyon became a venue for learning, reflection, friendship, and youth empowerment as the City Social Welfare and Development Office successfully conducted the 2026 Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Summer Camp for the Northeast Cluster.

Bringing together PYAP members from the northeast barangays of Puerto Princesa City, the camp provided a safe and engaging space where young people were encouraged to grow, connect, and become catalysts of positive change in their communities. Day 1 featured enriching learning sessions focused on the well-being of the youth. Resource speakers from the City Health Office led an important discussion on promoting self-care and preventing self-harm, emphasizing the value of mental health and emotional wellness. Representatives from the City PNP Police Station 5 also conducted a session on drug awareness and prevention, empowering participants with knowledge to make informed and responsible decisions.

One of the most inspiring moments of the camp was the interactive talk delivered by Ms. Adelyn H. Robles, popularly known as “Mama Dona” of Barangay LS 97.5. As a former PYAP alumna, she shared her personal journey, challenges, and successes, inspiring participants to pursue their dreams and remain resilient amidst life's difficulties. The evening concluded with lively performances from the Edualino Band, creating an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie among the campers.

Day 2 focused on deeper conversations and meaningful connections. During the heartfelt segment entitled “It's Nice Having Someone to Talk To,” Mama Dona encouraged participants to openly share their experiences and struggles involving family, friendships, and romantic relationships. The activity became an emotional yet empowering space where many young people found comfort, understanding, and support from their peers.

Participants also learned from the best practices of Barangay Maoyon in advancing children and youth welfare through a presentation by Punong Barangay Hon. Earl Edrene G. Dilla, highlighting the importance of community-driven initiatives in nurturing and protecting young people.

The success of this activity would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our partners and stakeholders. The CSWD Office extends its heartfelt gratitude to Barangay Maoyon for graciously serving as the host barangay; Hon. Erwin Edualino, City Councilor; the City Health Office; Universal Health Care; City PNP Police Station 5; and the Northeast Mini City Hall for their unwavering support and commitment to youth development.

We also express our sincere appreciation to all Barangay Councils, Sangguniang Kabataan Councils, and all Barangay Child Welfare Protection Coordinators (BCWPCs) from the northeast barangays for their continued partnership and dedication in making this event possible.

As the camp concluded, participants returned to their respective communities carrying not only new knowledge and skills but also renewed confidence, strengthened friendships, and a deeper understanding of their role as young leaders.

Together, we continue to empower hearts and transform futures—one young person at a time.
