482 Typhoon-Hit Families in Puerto Galera Received Assistance Under the Emergency Shelter Support (ESS) of the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP)
On 8 April 2026, four hundred eighty-two (482) families, affected by the combined effects of Severe Tropical Storm “Crising,” Tropical Storm “Dante,” and Severe Tropical Storm “Emong,” in the Municipality of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, received unconditional cash assistance under the ESS of IDSAP.
The distribution, held at the New Puerto Galera Municipal Hall and Puerto Galera Municipal Evacuation Center, both located in Barangay Balatero, was headed by Assistant Regional Director Randy H. Halasan, with the full support of the Municipal Government of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, led by Mayor Robinhood D. Ylagan, and Vice Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan.
The event was also graced by Carmela L. Datinguinoo, Municipal Administrator, and Arnel Vincent M. Padayhag, RSW, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer.
Director Halasan were also joined by the Public Housing and Settlements Division, led by Division Chief Louis Frederic Q. Alconcel, alongside with Engr. Judith A. Corre-Quilapio, Rica Graciosa M. Flores, and Janne Christian A. Machado, REA.
Also joining Director Halasan are: Arch. Jenica G. Montero from the Office of the Regional Director; Marie France L. Benosa from the Environmental, Land Use, Urban Planning, and Development Division; Jerome Stephen F. Prajio from the Homeowners Association and Community Development Division; Engr. Bernardo Gabriel L. Gamba from the Housing and Real Estate Development Regulation Division; and Orlando L. Sevilla from the Administrative and Finance Division.
This initiative underscores DHSUD’s commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities, helping affected families recover and rebuild their lives.
