DISMISSED PNP MEMBER WITH STANDING WARRANT LOCKED BEHIND BARS FOR THE CRIME OF ROBBERY EXTORTION
In the first week of May, the PNP IMEG again served an arrest warrant that resulted in a successful arrest of a dismissed member of the PNP identified as PSSg Michael Rikk Bantola Carpena for the crime of Robbery (Extortion).
In a report submitted to the Chief, PNP, PGEN BENJAMIN C ACORDA, JR, on May 5, 2023 at about 7:20 PM, operatives from Team Counter Intelligence Division-IMEG served the Alias Warrant of Arrest at Blk. 15, Lot 16, Villa Paloa, Brgy. Banlic, Calamba City, Laguna against a dismissed PNP member identified as PSSg Michael Rikk Bantola Carpena for the crime of Robbery (Extortion) under Art. 294 para 5 of the Revised Penal Code with bail recommended amounting to PhP200,000.00.
The operation stemmed from the Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Myra B. Quiambao, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 203, City of Muntinlupa. As a backgrounder, former Regional Director, National Capital Region Police Office, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS ordered a thorough investigation and lateral coordination to arrest police officers involved in the robbery incident of a POGO establishment located at Blk 2, Lot 5, Ibarra St., Rizal Village, Alabang, Muntinlupa City on August 11, 2020, at about 12:10 PM. The victims were nine Chinese Nationals and six Filipino citizens.
Accordingly, the driver of the Chinese Nationals went outside at 12:00 NN of August 11, 2020. After a few minutes, he returned and when he was about to enter the gate, seven malefactors suddenly barged in, disarmed the Security Guard, and introduced themselves as NBI agents. Upon entry, some of the intruders went directly to the room where the CCTV main room was located. Said intruders, seized the hard drive of the CCTV where video records were stored. All Chinese and Filipino victims were gathered in one place while the gunmen stole their personal belongings. A total of more or less PhP800,000.00 worth of items were confiscated by the suspects, as follows:
a. Two pieces diamond rings worth PhP50,000.00;
b. Two pieces iPhone 11 max worth PhP120,000.00;
c. One piece iPhone 11 Promax worth PhP66,000.00;
d. One piece pad pro worth PhP73,000.00;
e. Two pieces iPhone airpod worth PhP28,000.00; and
f. Cash amounting to PhP400,000.00 and PhP90,000.00, respectively.
“Under my leadership, I will assure the public that PNP will remain steadfast in its commitment to protect the Filipino people and rid the country of the wanted persons. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our communities are safe and secure.” CPNP, PGEN ACORDA, JR said in his statement.
The arrested person is now temporarily detained at IMEG Custodial Facility, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City for documentation and disposition prior to turnover to the issuing court.
