Foster Care Pilot Project

Foster Care Pilot Project Working Together Towards a More Effective and Efficient Foster Care System: A Pilot Project. OBJECTIVES:
1.

GOAL:
Contribute to establishment of a functioning Child Protection System in the country. To promote Foster Care as the best alternative arrangement for children in need of temporary family care.
2. To develop and strengthen capacity of Foster Care supervisors, social workers and foster families.
3. To recruit and develop a pool of licensed foster families as ready resource for children in need

of temporary family care. PRIMARY CONCERN OF THE PILOT PROJECT:

Children in need of temporary care while awaiting permanent placement, i.e. reunification or adoption - these children are:

0-5 years old,
abandoned,
surrendered,
neglected,
dependent or orphaned

Promotion of foster care will help develop a pool of foster families that can readily receive children (0-5 years old) in need of temporary care thereby contributing to decongestion of child-caring agencies.
