The Department of Agriculture – Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS) successfully conducted an Enterprise Capacity Enhancement Writeshop/Training on Enterprise Identification and Business Plan Preparation on August 10-14, 2026, in Mandaue City, Cebu.

The activity gathered nine (9) Farmers’ and Fisherfolk Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) and eight (8 ) Local Government Units (LGUs) from Visayas cluster, including Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, and the Eastern Visayas. Through this writeshop, participating FCAs and LGUs were equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively identify viable agri-enterprise projects and develop comprehensive business plans.

This initiative forms part of DA-AMAS’ key strategies to strengthen the readiness of the proponents in complying with documentary and technical requirements for project proposal submission and evaluation, and enabling them to qualify for grant assistance under the Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program.

Further, this complements the Department’s continuing support to farmers and fisherfolk to ensure business continuity amid rising fuel costs, while sustaining food production and promoting value-adding activities in the agriculture sector.

35 DA-Assisted Start-Up MSMEs (Fruit-Based) Trained on Basic Food Processing: From Product Development to Product Registration

The Department of Agriculture – Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS), in partnership with the Food Development Center (FDC), successfully conducted the Training Course on Basic Food Processing for Agripreneurs: From Product Development to Product Registration on August 10–14, 2026, in Angeles City, Pampanga.

A total of 35 DA-assisted start-up MSMEs engaged in fruit-based products participated in the five-day training, gaining valuable knowledge and practical insights on food processing technologies, product development, shelf-life studies, Philippine food labeling requirements, food safety, and the application and documentary requirements for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) License to Operate (LTO) and Certificate of Product Registration (CPR).

The training is part of the DA Agribusiness Development Services (ADS), which aims to provide start-up agripreneurs with the necessary technical knowledge and support to improve their products, comply with food safety and regulatory requirements, and become more competitive in the market.

The DA continues to empower Filipino agripreneurs by transforming innovative, farm-based products into safe, quality, market-ready, and competitive products, helping MSMEs expand their market reach and build sustainable enterprises. 🌱🥭🇵🇭
