The City Veterinary Department participated in the Specialized Training on Humane Wildlife and Animal Handling held on July 23, 2026, at the DRRMO Building, Quezon City Hall.

The training enhanced the participants’ knowledge and skills in wildlife care and management, proper restraint and handling techniques, and humane response procedures, strengthening our capability to respond to wildlife-related concerns.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our resource speakers, Dr. Glenn S. Maguad and Dr. Michael Sevilla of the Biodiversity Management Bureau – DENR, and Mr. Edgardo Flores Lawrence Zamora, Wildlife Keeper, for sharing their expertise and practical experiences.

Through continuous learning and collaboration, we remain committed to promoting responsible and humane animal handling for the safety and welfare of QCitizens.

The Quezon City Veterinary Department met with Ms. Rina Ortiz, CEO and Founder of Biyaya Animal Care Foundation, and Mr. John Ross Rowalle of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to discuss the upcoming veterinary outreach activities in Barangays Payatas and Bagong Silangan this November.

Topics discussed included the conduct of mass kapon (spay and neuter), TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return), anti-rabies vaccination, 5-in-1 and 4-in-1 vaccinations, and microchipping as part of the planned veterinary services for QCitizens.

Strengthening Partnership for Safer and Better Slaughter Practices.

The City Veterinary Department met with the La Loma Lechoneros to discuss practical ways to improve and simplify the slaughter process while ensuring compliance with local ordinances, animal health regulations, and food safety standards. The meeting also served as a venue to identify challenges faced by lechon producers and explore government support through technical guidance, regulatory assistance, capacity-building programs, and collaborative initiatives. Together, we are committed to promoting a safe, efficient, and sustainable lechon industry that benefits producers and consumers alike.
