Women remain significantly underrepresented in politics, governance, and peacebuilding—particularly in BARMM, where socio-political and cultural barriers have historically limited their roles. Despite these challenges, emerging trends in gender and development are beginning to challenge and reshape these norms, paving the way for greater political participation and leadership by women in the region.

In line with this, PARTICIPATE BARMM and the UNDP Philippines, in coordination with the Bangsamoro Ministry of the Interior and Local Government and the Bangsamoro Women Commission - BARMM, is launching SHE WINS PEACE, a four-day executive program designed for women elected officials as well as advocacy leaders with the potential to run for public office within BARMM.

The 4-day Executive Leadership Program will use a mix of interactive activities, lectures, peer sharing, and field visits to help participants learn and grow as leaders, including a visit to Quezon City’s Gender and Development Office, where participants will see how gender-responsive programs and policies work in practice.

With this program, there is hope that our women leaders will expand their knowledge and experience that they can bring back and implement in their own localities in BARMM.
