Ngayong ika-28 ng Mayo, ipinagdiriwang natin ang National Flag Day bilang paggunita sa makasaysayang Labanan sa Alapan noong 1898, kung saan nagtagumpay ang mga Pilipino laban sa mga Kastila at unang iwinagayway sa publiko ang watawat ng Pilipinas.

Higit sa isang simbolo, ang ating watawat ay paalala ng tapang, sakripisyo, at pagkakaisa ng mga bayani na nag-alay ng buhay para sa ating kalayaan. Nawa’y manatili sa bawat Pilipino ang diwa ng pagmamahal sa bayan at pagpapahalaga sa kalayaang ating tinatamasa ngayon.
