The Standards Bureau (SB) is responsible for fulfilling the regulatory and quality assurance roles of the Department along development of quality assurance measures in the management of social welfare and development offices/facilities and in the implementation of programs and services for the poor, vulnerable and the disadvantaged. It sets standards along registration, licensing of NGOs and accreditation of service providers and social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs) implementing social welfare and development programs and services. As the SB aims to actively engage the public through this page, we would like to remind the public that it is our goal to answer all inquiries and comments and welcome suggestions and commendations. The SB also reminds the public that all administrators of this page reserve the right to immediately hide and delete any post and/or comments from the public that is abusive, inappropriate, defamatory, obscene, misleading, offensive, and spam.

DSWD PRESS RELEASE: DSWD Expands Career Development for Registered Social Workers Nationwide

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has expanded its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) interventions to provide enhanced learning opportunities and career development for social welfare practitioners across the DSWD’s Central and Field Offices.

"After going around the country, I listened carefully to our people. And isa ang sigaw… marami silang sigaw ng taong bayan, pero ang una nilang sigaw is more CPD to be done regionally, para hindi kayo lumuwas at mapapagastos pa, so that's been heard," Secretary REX Gatchalian said during the Town Hall meeting on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) on Monday (September 7). ALTERNATIVE WORK ARRANGEMENTS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES, ALTERNATIVE LEARNING MODES FOR SCHOOLS ON SEPTEMBER 10

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 135, government offices are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements in the National Capital Region and the following provinces on September 10, 2026, in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and the cumulative effects of prolonged rainfall:

📍 National Capital Region (NCR)
📍 La Union
📍 Pangasinan
📍 Benguet
📍 Bataan
📍 Bulacan
📍 Pampanga
📍 Zambales
📍 Batangas
📍 Cavite
📍 Laguna
📍 Rizal
📍 Occidental Mindoro
📍 Oriental Mindoro

Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.

Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers placed under alternative work arrangements shall be paid their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Binigyang-diin ni DSWD Secretary REX Gatchalian ang direktiba sa buong Kagawaran na patuloy na paghusayin ang trabaho at maging episyente sa paggamit ng pondo para mas mabilis at mas maayos na maihatid ang serbisyo sa mga Pilipinong nangangailangan.

Sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Appropriations para sa 2027 proposed budget ng DSWD, ipinaliwanag ng Kalihim na nakatuon ang panukalang pondo sa pagpapalakas at pagpapalawak ng mga serbisyo para sa poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged Filipinos.

Dagdag pa niya, bahagi ng direksyong ito ang pagtulong sa mga kliyente na maging mas self-sufficient, kasabay ng patuloy na pagpapahusay ng mga inisyatiba ng DSWD at ng mga attached at supervised agencies nito.

As part of enhancing operational capacity and regulatory compliance, the Standards Bureau (SB) staff underwent a learning development intervention session on Safety Protocols in Regulatory Enforcement Actions on September 2, 2026 (Wednesday) at the DSWD Central Office in Quezon City.

PCPT. Patricia Anne Ocampo, Legal Officer in the Legal Service of the Philippine National Police (PNP), shared practical skills, insights, and standardized protocols for applying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in investigative enforcement actions and the admissibility of electronic evidence.

The activity aims to strengthen the confidence and preparedness of Fact Finding Investigators (FFI), Monitoring and Enforcement staff, and Review Committee Secretariat members in carrying out investigation activities, while ensuring the safety, integrity, and professionalism.
