Ninoy Aquino Day is an opportunity for the nation to honor all Filipinos who gave their lives in the struggle for truth, justice, and democracy, especially in times of social turmoil. Former Philippine Sen. Benigno βNinoyβ Aquino Jr., a key figure in the resistance against dictatorship and Martial Law, was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983, upon his return from exile.
On this occasion, the University of the Philippines joins the nation in defending historical truth, preserving democracy and freedom, and upholding justice. May Ninoyβs life and legacy continue to inspire hope and serve as a guiding light for Filipinos in the pursuit of a better future for all.
