Gardens where retirees jog or walk usually abound in coins because retirees refuse to pick them up saying rhey may not be able to stand once they stoop !

Instead of admiring newly polished silverware displayed on cabinets, retirees use silver spoons and forks every meal !

RITUALS

Customs call for rites and wreaths
he sits and watches as he breathes
so many rituals from morn til night
are they for pleasure, for sense of sight?

As the world gets cramped
comes a life to this earthy dump
with pomp and leisure do they greet
the new born soul, a welcome feat.

With innocence lost as babes grow up
rejoice or fail til they've had enough
they live and love according to choice
and gather their wants, demands they voice.

He recalls the solemnest rite
when everything seemed perfectly bright
the loveliest one he's ever seen
wants a life spent with him.

To choose a mate, one has to date,
as lovers dance to life's romance;
hardest rite to undertake, for heaven's sake,
is when they choose and bring on blues,
for life's content may not be meant.

As he watched the funeral pyre
paper structures burn afire
as one's remains is likewise cast
into body burners for churning ash.

As automatons lead their lives
robot acts move to jive
with unclear purposes, wants and tasks
carrying out rituals from dawn to dusk.

Enchanted by a ghost

Within the corners of my mind,
your fluttering brown locks
still tease me no end,
just around the bend
i know you are there,
a sight to behold,
why can't you let me be,
why can't you set me free ?
we missed our chance
at life, we couldn't even
be sure of what it was we had,
was it love, romance, lust?
why does your name
spring up everywhere i look?
why do i hear your voice
when everybody speaks;
why does my cell phone still
carry your messages?
it is too late to turn back the clock
it is too late to make amends
what was remains in the past.
what have i done that was so bad?
how can i appease your restless soul?
why do i now hurt so much?
why do i now miss you so.
