CTC STRENGTHENS IMPACT EVALUATION SKILLS OF SELECT NGA TECHNICAL STAFF

The Customized Training Course (CTC) on Impact Evaluation for the Technical Staff of Select National Government Agencies (NGAs) was conducted by the PSRTI on May 25-29, 2026, at the PSRTI Conference Room. The five-day training gathered 37 representatives from selected NGAs and was facilitated by Resource Person Ms. Melba V. Tutor.

The course introduced impact evaluation as a crucial tool for determining project or program effectiveness, improving design, and informing policymaking. It strengthened participants’ understanding of impact evaluation within the framework of evidence-based planning and decision-making, covering core concepts such as causal inference, theory of change, counterfactuals, evaluation designs, data requirements, ethical considerations, and the communication of evaluation results for policy and program improvement.

PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD delivered the opening and closing remarks. The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Assistant Secretary of the Investment and Programming Group Roderick M. Planta delivered an opening message, while DEPDev Director IV of the Monitoring and Evaluation Staff Aldwin Uy Urbina delivered a closing message. In addition to its Regular Training Courses (RTCs) offered, PSRTI also conducts Customized Training Courses (CTCs) to respond to specialized capacity development needs.

COMPLIMENTARY COURSE BOOSTS AI-ENABLED DATA VISUALIZATION SKILLS OF CAR RSC MEMBERS

The complimentary course on Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools was conducted for 36 representatives of Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) member-agencies in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) on May 19–21, 2026, via Zoom Meeting. The three-day training, conducted in coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev), formed part of PSRTI’s continuing efforts to strengthen the capacities of RSCs through practical and emerging data tools.

Facilitated by Resource Persons Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio and Mr. Eduard Gatus, the training enhanced participants’ skills in organizing and summarizing datasets, interpreting descriptive measures, preparing clear data visualizations, and using AI-enabled tools to support statistical reporting and evidence-based regional planning.

The program opened with remarks from PSRTI Training Division Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Peña, followed by an opening message from DEPDev CAR Regional Director Apollo Edwin S. Pagano. The training concluded with a closing message from PSA-CAR Regional Director Villafe P. Alibuyog and closing remarks from PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD.

REGIONS X AND XII LGU PERSONNEL ENHANCE DATA ANALYTICS SKILLS THROUGH PSRTI SDG SEMINAR

Ninety-five (95) online participants from various Provincial and Local Government Units (LGUs), as well as Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) representatives from Region X and Region XII, attended the Virtual Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Seminar 7: Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools conducted by the PSRTI on May 12–14, 2026, via Zoom.

Facilitated by Resource Persons Ms. Carmela Vito and Ms. Angela Joyce Martin, the three-day seminar aimed to equip participants with practical skills in descriptive statistics, data visualization, and AI-assisted reporting. Through the guided use of AI-enabled tools, participants were introduced to ways of organizing and summarizing datasets, interpreting key descriptive measures, preparing appropriate charts, and developing short narrative insights to support evidence-based local planning, reporting, and decision-making.

PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD delivered the opening remarks, while Ms. Yvette Tolentino Sunga, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director of DILG Regional Office X, delivered a closing message. Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio, Senior Statistical Specialist of the Training Division, also delivered her closing remarks. The seminar is part of PSRTI’s continuing efforts to strengthen local capacities in data-driven governance and promote the responsible use of emerging technologies in statistical work.

RSC REGION I MEMBERS JOIN PSRTI TRAINING ON AI-ENABLED ANALYTICS TOOLS

The PSRTI successfully conducted the third run of its complimentary training titled Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools for members of the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Region I on May 5-7, 2026, via Zoom.

The three-day online training was participated in by 40 representatives from various RSC member-agencies in Region I. It aimed to strengthen participants’ capacities in applying descriptive analytics, creating meaningful data visualizations, and exploring the use of AI-enabled tools to support data-driven decision-making and statistical work.

The program opened with welcoming remarks from PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD, followed by an opening message from Ms. Stephanie F. Christiansen, Regional Director of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region I and Chairperson of RSC Region I. The technical sessions were facilitated by PSRTI Resource Persons Ms. Haidee Fay M. Ignacio and Mr. Eduard C. Gatus, who guided the participants through key concepts, practical applications, and hands-on exercises.

The training concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Peña, Chief Statistical Specialist of the Training Division, who expressed appreciation to the participants, resource persons, and organizers for their active engagement and support.

Through this initiative, PSRTI continues to support capacity-building efforts among RSC members by promoting the use of innovative tools and approaches in data analysis, visualization, and evidence-based planning.

ROLLOUT OF FREE RTCs CONTINUES WITH DATA ANALYTICS COURSE

The PSRTI conducted the Hybrid Regular Training Course (RTC) on Foundations of Insights: Data Analytics Using Descriptive Statistics on April 20–23, 2026, as part of its second quarter offering of RTCs. Held onsite at the PSRTI Gervacio Selda Jr. Room and online via Zoom Meeting, the training gathered 89 participants, composed of 21 onsite and 68 online attendees.

Ms. Czarinne Antoinette A. Antonio served as Resource Person, guiding the participants through key concepts and applications of descriptive statistics for data analytics. The course aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to collect, present, summarize, analyze, and interpret data to support evidence-based decision-making and report preparation.

The activity marked the second time that the course was offered as a free RTC for 2026, reflecting PSRTI’s continued commitment to providing accessible capacity-building opportunities for government personnel. GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL HONE ADVANCED STATISTICAL SKILLS THROUGH FREE PSRTI TRAINING

The PSRTI conducted the Virtual Regular Training Course (RTC) on Basic Statistics 2: Estimation and Hypothesis Testing on May 4-8, 2026 via Zoom, with 67 participants from various National Government Agencies (NGAs) in attendance.

Having Mr. George Ringo S. Manapat as Resource Person, the five-day training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding and application of inferential statistics, particularly in estimation and hypothesis testing. The course equipped participants with knowledge and skills in drawing conclusions from sample data, assessing statistical evidence, and applying statistical techniques to support evidence-based decision-making and policy analysis.

PSRTI Training Division Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Peña delivered both the opening and closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of strengthening statistical competencies among government personnel.

The PSRTI conducted the Virtual Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Seminar 7 on Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools for 77 online participants from various provincial and local government offices, as well as representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Region VI, on April 28–30, 2026.

Facilitated by Resource Persons Ms. Jazel Ann R***r and Mr. Fresh Mendiola, the three-day seminar aimed to strengthen participants’ competencies in organizing, summarizing, analyzing, and visualizing data using descriptive analytics and AI-enabled tools. Through the training, participants were introduced to practical techniques in preparing frequency tables, computing descriptive measures, selecting appropriate charts, and drafting insights to support evidence-based planning, monitoring, and decision-making at the local level.
