National Transmission Corporation The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) is the owner of the country’s transmission assets

The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) is a government agency created under Republic Act No. 9136, otherwise known as the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) of 2001. Since March 1, 2003, TransCo operated and managed the power transmission system that links power plants to the electric distribution utilities nationwide. The same law mandated the privatization of TransCo through an

outright sale or management concession agreement. Following a public bidding conducted in December 2007, the TransCo concession was awarded to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), which eventually secured a congressional franchise to operate the transmission network through Republic Act No. 9511. On January 15, 2009, TransCo turned over the management and operation of its nationwide transmission system to NGCP. Ownership of all transmission assets however, remains with TransCo. As owner of the transmission assets, the new TransCo is mandated with five key responsibilities:

- Protect national government’s interests by ensuring NGCP’s compliance with the terms and conditions of the Concession Agreement and the policies of the Department of Energy;

-Handle all existing cases, including right-of-way and claims which accrued prior to the turnover date;

-Divest remaining sub-transmission assets to technically and financially qualified electric distributors nationwide; and

-Undertake the operation, maintenance, consultancy and other technical services for the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

-Administer the Feed-in-Tariff Allowance Fund for renewable energy generators.

Across the country, lineworkers brave the heat, storms, challenging terrain, and demanding hours to build, repair, and maintain the power lines that connect homes, businesses, and communities. Their skill, courage, and dedication help keep electricity flowing and support the daily lives and livelihoods of millions of Filipinos.

To all lineworkers and the unsung heroes of the power sector, Maraming salamat po sa inyong di matatawarang paglilingkod sa bayan!

The National Transmission Corporation's (TransCo) Renewable Energy Payment Agreement (REPA) with Amatera Renewable Energy Corporation (ARECO) was featured among the key investment milestones during the Philippines–Thailand Business Forum held on July 25, 2026, at Dusit Thani Manila.

The presentation underscored the Philippines' continued progress in advancing renewable energy investments and strengthening regional partnerships through sustainable development initiatives.

Executed by TransCo as the Administrator of the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) Fund, the REPA supports the implementation of the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP). ARECO, developer of the 50-megawatt Vista Alegre Solar Power Project in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, was among the winning bidders under Green Energy Auction Program Round 4 (GEA-4). The project is principally backed by B.Grimm, one of Thailand's leading multinational conglomerates and a recognized private power producer.

The agreement establishes a transparent and reliable payment mechanism for renewable energy developers, strengthening investor confidence and supporting the country's transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
