HIGHLIGHTS: Critically Appraise Topics Workshop for Diagnosis

Fellows and residents of the Philippine Heart Center participated in the Critically Appraise Topics Workshop for Diagnosis held on July 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 5th Floor Amphitheater, MAB Building, Philippine Heart Center.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ critical appraisal skills in evaluating clinical research evidence, particularly studies assessing diagnostic accuracy and effectiveness. It provided participants with a systematic understanding of evidence-based medicine principles, including the assessment of study validity, precision, bias, diagnostic outcomes, and interpretation of clinical evidence. Through the program, participants were equipped with the skills to critically evaluate diagnostic studies and apply evidence-based approaches in clinical decision-making.

HIGHLIGHTS: Critically Appraise Topics Workshop for Therapy

Fellows and residents of the Philippine Heart Center participated in the Critically Appraise Topics Workshop for Therapy held on July 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 5th Floor Amphitheater, MAB Building, Philippine Heart Center.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ critical appraisal skills in evaluating clinical research evidence, particularly studies assessing treatment effectiveness. It provided participants with a systematic understanding of evidence-based medicine principles, including assessing study validity, precision, and bias, as well as treatment outcomes and measures of treatment effect. Through the program, participants were equipped with the skills to critically interpret clinical trial findings and apply evidence-based approaches in clinical decision-making.

HIGHLIGHTS: Lecture Series on Research Methodology, Research Ethics, and Introduction to Good Clinical Practice

Fellows, residents, and nurses of the Philippine Heart Center participated in the Lecture Series on Research Methodology held on June 10-11, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the 5th Floor Amphitheater, MAB Building, Philippine Heart Center.

The Lecture Series on Research Methodology, Research Ethics, and Introduction to Good Clinical Practice aims to equip new house staff members with the essential knowledge and foundational skills in conducting ethical, scientifically sound, and high-quality clinical research. The program seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of research concepts, study design, protocol development, data management, research ethics, literature review, and regulatory requirements to support responsible research practices within the institution. It also aims to foster a culture of research excellence and integrity among future clinician-researchers of the Philippine Heart Center.

HIGHLIGHTS: 10th Research Working Group Summit and Research Fair

Fellows, residents, and nurses of the Philippine Heart Center participated in the 10TH Research Working Group Summit and Research Fair held on May 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Aventura Hall, MAB Building, Philippine Heart Center.

The activity aimed to engage Fellows-in-Training and consultants in fostering collaborative research initiatives among the institution’s 20 Research Working Groups. It provided a platform for exchanging knowledge, expertise, and ideas, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of innovative approaches to address complex research questions. Through this initiative, participants were encouraged to strengthen research partnerships, maximize available resources, and advance evidence-based solutions in cardiovascular healthcare.
