The Medical Social Work Department of East Avenue Medical Center, in partnership with the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, successfully conducted Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat at the EAMC Pediatric Department last July 10, 2026. The activity brought together health education and compassionate service to promote proper nutrition and support the overall well-being of pediatric patients and their families.

The program featured an informative nutrition lecture by Mr. Daniel Michael O. Gildo, RND, who shared practical and easy-to-follow guidance on healthy eating and proper nutrition. Following the discussion, pediatric patients and their families received nutritious meals, milk, snacks, and toys through the generosity of our partner organizations, making the activity both educational and meaningful for everyone involved.

The Medical Social Work Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Sinag Foundation, Matang Agila Mandaragit Eagles Club, and the Rotary Club of San Roque for their invaluable partnership and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of our young patients.

Together, we continue to prove that when healthcare professionals and community partners work hand in hand, we can nourish not only the body but also bring comfort, hope, and joy to the children and families we serve.

Cancer treatment often comes with challenges that extend beyond medical care. For many patients, long travel hours, transportation expenses, and the need for temporary accommodation can add to the burden of an already demanding treatment journey.
To help address these challenges, East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC), through the Medical Social Work Department and the Cancer Assistance Fund (CAF), continues to strengthen its patient support services through the SILONG Program. Guided by its commitment to “𝙀𝙭𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚, 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙗𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙃𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩,” the initiative provides temporary lodging assistance to eligible cancer patients and their authorized caregivers.

At the heart of the SILONG Program is the provision of temporary accommodation at Verjandel Hotel for qualified patients who reside more than fifty (50) kilometers from EAMC. To further support beneficiaries throughout their treatment, the program also provides transportation services between the hotel and the hospital. By offering safe and comfortable accommodation along with reliable transport assistance, the program helps ease the burden of travel and lodging expenses, enabling patients and their caregivers to focus on treatment, recovery, and overall well-being.

More than a place to stay, the SILONG Program reflects EAMC's commitment to holistic and patient-centered care. It recognizes that healing extends beyond hospital walls and that meaningful support involves addressing the practical challenges patients and their families face throughout the course of treatment.

Through the SILONG Program, EAMC reaffirms its commitment to compassionate and patient-centered care. The AHPS- Medical Social Work Department of East Avenue Medical Center conducted a formal orientation on March 4, 2026, for first- and second-year residents as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen interdisciplinary coordination and optimize patient-centered service delivery.

The session provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s mandate, core programs, and standard operating procedures. Emphasis was placed on its functions in psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and facilitation of care coordination within the institutional framework.

Detailed guidance on referral mechanisms and documentation protocols was presented to ensure procedural compliance, efficiency, and continuity of care. The orientation also included a technical briefing on the financial assistance funds administered by the department, covering eligibility parameters, required documentation, and appropriate utilization in accordance with existing policies and regulatory guidelines.

The initiative aims to enhance residents’ understanding of institutional social support systems, promote standardized referral practices, and reinforce collaborative mechanisms that contribute to comprehensive and integrated healthcare delivery.
