In a major thrust to strengthen urban and peri-urban food security and sufficiency, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement today, August 5, 2026, at the TESDA Headquarters, Taguig City.

This strategic partnership is set to scale up sustainable food production systems across the nation’s urban and peri-urban communities.

Behind every meal on a Filipino family's table is the quiet labor of those who choose to serve through agriculture. It takes dedicated professionals to turn hard work into harvests, and harvests into hope for our communities. Licensed Agriculturists like Ernesto P. Destajo, owner of Nilda's Farm in the City of Koronadal, embody this commitment through continued efforts to support food production and strengthen the agricultural sector.

His words speak to a shared responsibility - one carried by farmers, fisherfolk, agriculturists, and extension workers alike in ensuring every Filipino family has food on their table. Through hard work and collective action, they continue to build a stronger, more food-secure future for the nation.

"Kahit maliit na tulong galing sa atin ay malaki ang maitutulong sa ating mga magsasaka."

That's the belief driving Jims Villarico Bayubay, a Licensed Agriculturist from Region IX. He knows there's still much work ahead for our farmers and the agriculture sector as a whole - but instead of being discouraged by the scale of the challenge, he chooses to focus on what small, consistent efforts can achieve.

Jims reminds us that service doesn't have to be grand to be meaningful - it just has to be consistent. Happy Agriculturists' Month to all who continue to show up for our farmers!

For Karen, being an agriculturist is more than a career - it is a commitment to serving our farmers and helping build a sustainable food supply for the nation. She takes pride in being part of an industry that truly improves lives and uplifts communities.

As she puts it: "Let's celebrate the dedication of everyone making a difference and inspiring future generations. Pagpupugay sa mga Agrikultor!"

For agriculturists like Salvador from Region III, farming isn't just a job title - it's a lifelong calling, one that stays with you long after the harvest, because once a farmer, always a farmer.

He reminds us that inspiring the next generation to embrace farming is just as important as honoring those who came before.

He urges us to move beyond mere gratitude and take real action to empower "the hands that feed our nation."

Happy Nutrition Month!

From farm to table - here is where our story begins. 🌱

As ATI joins the 52nd Nutrition Month celebration, we are reminded that every nutritious meal traces back to a healthy environment.

Every agricultural extension worker we train, every field we walk through, every harvest we help nurture is a reminder that nutrition and nature are inseparable. This year's theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!" speaks to something we stand for every day - healthy food starts with a healthy environment.

So today and everyday, we strengthen our commitment - to the farmers and fisherfolk who feed us, to the land that sustains us, and to every Filipino family working toward a more nutritious, more sustainable future.

Happy Nutrition Month!

The growth of agriculture depends not only on technologies and programs, but on individuals who choose to dedicate their profession to empowering others - people like Starlyn B. Pasco, a Licensed Agriculturist from Region X, who continues to strengthen the connections between institutions, farmers, and future leaders in the sector.

Her journey stands as a testament to the power of service and commitment in shaping stronger farming communities and inspiring more Filipinos to contribute to a sustainable, food-secure future.

Climate change doesn't ask for permission before it disrupts a harvest. El Niño doesn't wait for farmers to be ready. In the face of these mounting threats, it takes dedicated agriculturists to stand between uncertainty and the survival of our farming communities - professionals like Loue Mark R. Galve, Licensed Agriculturist from Region IX.

As he puts it: "We are not just growing plants, but we are also planting hope for the future - because a strong agriculture is a strong future for the Nation."
