"Ti agtutubo ita, isu ti mangisurat iti sumaruno a pakasaritaan ti pagilian." (The youth today are the ones who will write the next chapter of our nation's history.) As we officially open the 1st Laoag City Youth Parliament 2026, we reflect on these stirring words from the inspirational message of Asec. Gervy James N. Gumarit (Commissioner-at-Large, National Youth Commission).

This parliament is more than just a simulationβ€”it is a platform where our young leaders learn not only to speak, but to listen; not only to participate, but to lead; and not only to dream, but to act! When given the space to participate meaningfully in governance, the youth become true catalysts of innovation, accountability, and social transformation. To all our youth parliamentarians, continue to raise your voices responsibly and lead with purpose! 🌟✍️

So happy to have witnessed and checked on the implementation of the AGRIDAM for Youth Program in Abra this week! (A big thank you to OCD-CAR for the partnership! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ)

I am incredibly proud to see our young leaders gaining the essential skills to become certified disaster responders. Investing in our youth is truly investing in a safer, more resilient Philippines. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

Beyond the training, I was very happy to sit down and listen to our youth leaders themselves. Hearing their insights on the specific capacity-building activities and skills they want to learn, and understanding what they need to better serve their communities, was the highlight of my visit. I am fully committed to championing the initiatives that you believe will help you lead better. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ
