Had a major "pinch me" moment earlier tonight! ✨

I had the privilege of sitting down for dinner with the US Ambassador to ASEAN, HE Kevin Kim, alongside some amazing US Embassy in the Philippines staff and my fellow alums from US government exchange programs like YSEALI and Fulbright. 🇵🇭🇺🇸

Honestly, the vibe was immaculate. We dived deep into some of the biggest issues and most promising ideas brewing across the ASEAN region. But of course, because it’s me, I might have overshared just a little bit. 😅 I confessed to Ambassador Kevin that I am absolute trash for US political dramas on Netflix—think House of Cards, Designated Survivor, the whole deal.

Instead of judging my binge-watching habits, he actually gave me a solid recommendation! He told me to watch The World According to Dick Cheney if I want a much deeper, real-world appreciation of US politics. (Adding that to my watchlist immediately! 🎬)

What struck me the most about Ambassador Kevin was his incredibly youthful energy. It felt so easy to talk to him, so I took the chance to ask: "What is it that the US would like to do with or know more about ASEAN youth?"

His answer was so simple yet incredibly profound—and honestly, it's a huge challenge for us here in the Philippines, too.

He said the mission is straightforward: It’s all about figuring out how to genuinely talk to and engage with more than 300 million ASEAN youth. 🌍✨

Think about that number. 300 million. We aren't just the future; we are the loudest, most dynamic current force in this region. But to make real change happen, the bridge between leaders and the youth needs to be wider, more open, and less intimidating.

Left the dinner feeling incredibly inspired and fired up. Huge thanks to the US Embassy team (Ej, George, and Nigel) for the invite! Let’s keep pushing boundaries and making our voices heard, ASEAN fam! 💪🏽🔥

The Philippine Youth Delegation has officially arrived in Bangkok, Thailand to participate in the ASEAN Youth United for Road Safety 2026, which will be held from July 1–5, 2026. Led by the National Youth Commission’s SOMY Focal Point Person, Assistant Secretary Gervy James N. Gumarit, the Philippine delegation is represented by youth leaders Lance Alluysius D. Dela Cruz, Sheen Milger A. Chavo, and Julius B. Ganal.

The five-day regional program serves as a platform to raise awareness on road safety among ASEAN youth, strengthen their knowledge and participation in road safety initiatives, foster regional collaboration and the exchange of best practices, and promote the use of technology and creative media for effective advocacy.

The activity will also provide an avenue for youth delegates to consolidate recommendations that will be presented to the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) and the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth (AMMY), ensuring that the voices of young people contribute to shaping regional road safety policies and initiatives. The National Youth Commission (NYC), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte through the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO), invites aspiring and active youth leaders to join the Grassroots Leadership Training Program for Youth Leaders on June 18–19, 2026, at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag City.

This transformative two-day training program is designed to strengthen leadership competencies, foster meaningful community engagement, and empower young leaders to become catalysts for progress and development in their respective municipalities.
