Maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa.

Southeastward Slowly

• On the latest forecast track, MAYMAY will traverse the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon before emerging over the eastern coastal waters of Isabela or Cagayan.
• MAYMAY is forecast to continue weakening while moving further inland and may be downgraded into a remnant low this afternoon or evening. However, due to interaction with the rugged terrain, an earlier weakening is possible. The remnant low of MAYMAY will move generally southeastward until it merges into the larger circulation of Tropical Cyclone DOLPHIN.

• LUIS is forecast to remain as a tropical depression over majority of the forecast period and may be downgraded into a remnant low by Wednesday (05 August) before becoming fully assimilated into the circulation of Tropical Cyclone DOLPHIN.

• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK

• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.

• KIYAPO will continue moving west northwestward until Saturday (25 July) towards the Luzon Strait before turning northwestward for the remaining of the forecast period. On the forecast track, the center of KIYAPO may pass very close to the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan between tomorrow (24 July) morning and afternoon, then pass very close or make landfall in the vicinity of Babuyan Islands between tomorrow afternoon and evening. It is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning or noon.

• KIYAPO will gradually intensify while moving over the Philippine Sea and may reach tropical storm category tomorrow. It will continue to strengthen while traversing the Extreme Northern Luzon and may intensify into a severe tropical storm after passing the Babuyan Islands. A weakening trend is expected once KIYAPO makes landfall in the vicinity of southern mainland China and moves further inland.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. “INDAY” WEAKENS FURTHER AS IT ACCELERATES NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE SEA EAST OF BATANES.

Location of Center (4:00 AM):
The center of Typhoon INDAY was estimated based on all available data at 620 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.3°N, 127.9°E).

Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 185 km/h, and central pressure of 955 hPa.

Present Movement:
Northwestward at 20 km/h

Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 860 km from the center

Refer to Weather Advisory No. 15 issued at 5:00 AM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to TC INDAY and the Southwest Monsoon.

➣ Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.

• Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2.
• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of Typhoon INDAY will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

• Today and tomorrow (11 July): Most of the country.
• Sunday (12 July): Most of Luzon, most of Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, and Davao Oriental

Afterwards, INDAY will move toward the southern islands of Japan and may make landfall or pass close over the northern coast of Taiwan. It will then exit the PAR by tomorrow morning or afternoon and make landfall over the eastern coast of mainland China by tomorrow evening or Sunday (12 July) early morning.
• INDAY is forecast to remain as a typhoon until it exits the PAR. It will then weaken into a severe tropical storm after moving further inland over mainland China.
