LGU Quezon, Bukidnon – 1st & 2nd Batch

The Municipality of Quezon, through the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) headed by our Municipal Mayor Hon. Pablo Lorenzo III, MADAC Chairman, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), successfully conducted the Orientation on the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and Program for LGU employees.

With the support of PDEA RO 10 Bukidnon Provincial Office, led by IA I Patricio S. Alerta, Jr., this initiative reinforces our strong commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and drug-free government workplace.

🏀 Basketball Tournament – Day 1 Highlights 🏀

In celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, we tipped off our basketball tournament with a powerful message:
Choose sports, not drugs. 💪🚫💊

Day 1 saw intense action and great sportsmanship from the following teams:
PNP, BFP, MPSO, SK Federation,Quezon Ball Club, Kiokong Ball Club, DepEd, and San Jose Ball Club 🏆🔥

In observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week 2024

On November 22, 2024, the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council in partnership with Sta. Cruz Integrated School conducted a series of informative and engaging talks aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promoting responsible behavior among students and staff. The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers who provided valuable insights into various aspects of drug abuse prevention and control.

First Speaker: Femmy Jane Jaudian, LPT
Topic: Anti-Drug Advocacy Orientation
Mrs. Jaudian opened the program by emphasizing the importance of drug prevention. She also shared effective strategies for anti-drug campaigns and encouraged students to become advocates for a drug-free community.

Second Speaker: Gracelie Ann Marie Luceño, RN, MSN
Topic: The Science of Addiction and Its Ill Effects
Mrs. Luceño provided an in-depth explanation of the science behind addiction, explaining how drugs affect the brain and the body. Her presentation included real-life examples and research findings to underscore the importance of early prevention and intervention.

Third Speaker: Mr. Pat Junie Pantua Jr.
Topic: Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)
Mr. Pantua concluded the series of talks by discussing the legal framework governing drug control in the Philippines, specifically Republic Act 9165. He explained the key provisions of the law, including the penalties for drug-related offenses and the government’s efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs. He also highlighted the importance of community support in enforcing the law and preventing drug abuse.

The activity successfully achieved its goal of informing and engaging the school community about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Students and faculty members were given the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the issue.

Feedback from participants indicated that the event was both educational and motivating. Many expressed a renewed commitment to supporting anti-drug initiatives and fostering a healthy, drug-free environment within the school.

Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week 2024 Celebration in Quezon Municipality

On November 21, 2024, the Municipality of Quezon celebrated the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week with a meaningful gathering at the ABC Hall. This important event, organized by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), brought together Punong Barangays and Peace and Order Chairpersons from 31 Barangays, all united in their commitment to fight drug abuse.

The day kicked off with an inspiring opening program led by PCPT Vernie Corpuz, setting the tone for an impactful day. Key lectures followed, focusing on critical topics that empower our local leaders in the fight against drug abuse:

📚 **PAT Junie Pantua Jr.** revisited the essential roles and functions of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in creating safe communities.
📊 **Femmy Jane Jaudian, LPT** discussed the BADAC Monthly Functionality Audit Indicators, guiding our Barangays on effective drug prevention strategies.
💡 **Gracelie Ann Marie Luceño, RN, MSN**, MADAC Focal Person, shared the government’s health-based approach in drug abuse prevention and control.

A highlight of the event was the awarding of **Certificates of Drug Cleared Barangays** by ROCBC to 10 Barangays that were officially recognized as Drug Cleared this year. Congratulations to all awardees for their hard work and dedication in making their communities drug-free!

The event concluded with a powerful **Pledge of Commitment** from all attendees, vowing to stay drug-free and continue working towards a safer, healthier community for all.

The drug symposium held in Minongan Elementary School, Quezon, Bukidnon, participated by Grades 5 & 6 was a successful and informative event aimed at raising awareness about drug prevention and legal implications.

The first speaker, Femmy Jane C. Jaudian, LPT delivered an insightful presentation on Anti-Drug Advocacy Orientation which highlighted the importance of drug prevention. The second speaker, Gracelie Ann Marie S. Luceño, RN, MSN discussed about the Science of Addiction and Ill effects of illegal drugs in which focuses the psychological and physiological aspects of addiction, and the negative effects of drugs and to the community. The third speaker, Pat. Daneszone B. Pador provided a comprehensive discussion on Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He discussed the legal implications of the act, the role of law enforcement in combating drug-related activities, and the importance of community cooperation.

Overall, the symposium was well-received, significantly enhancing the community's knowledge on drug-related issues and fostering a stronger commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
