Today, June 2, 2026, the Department of Agriculture (DA) showcased its strong support for local agriculture as USEC Arrey Ancheta Perez, Undersecretary for Agri-Marine Industrial Systems, visited Barangay Caniangan, Ramon Magsaysay, ZDS.

Accompanied by former Governor Victor J. Yu, USEC Perez inspected the Agro-Industrial Eco-Tourism Hub to assess how the DA can further assist and strengthen the local value chain. The focus of the visit centered on key agricultural interventions, including the development of Farm-to-Market Roads (FMR), provision of high-quality fertilizers, and enhancement of overall crop quality and market access for our local commodities—especially coffee and cacao.

This high-level visit underscores the DA's commitment to boosting the livelihoods of farmers not just in the Municipality of Ramon Magsaysay, but across the entire province of Zamboanga del Sur.

The Coffee and Cacao Processing Facility in the province, efficiently managed by the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) through Ms. Ivy Medrano, serves as the main marketing arm for our local coffee and cacao farmers. This facility ensures that the hard work of our Zambo Sur farmers directly connects to better market opportunities!
