The Bangko Sentral Pilipinas ( BSP ) seminar and Piso Caravan event was successfully held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Rizal, Palawan, through the collaborative efforts of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Regional Office, First Consolidated Bank (FCB), the Municipal Treasury Office, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Rizal.
The seminar, facilitated by BSP Regional Office representatives led by Ma’am Hazel V. Ramirez Bank Officer, aimed to raise public awareness on proper money handling, the identification of genuine currency, and the crucial role of the BSP in the Philippine economy. One of the event’s highlights was the Piso Caravan—a BSP initiative that enables the public to exchange unfit or poor-quality banknotes and coins for clean and fit currency.
With the support of Municipal Mayor Hon. Norman S. Ong, the event drew participation from department heads, LGU employees, barangay officials, and residents. Personnel from the Philippine National Police, Sports Office, GSO, MDRRMO and staff from First Consolidated Bank were also present to assist in the smooth facilitation of the program.
The BSP team presented vital information about the New Generation Currency (NGC) series, including the security features of authentic banknotes and coins, and emphasized the importance of financial inclusion—especially in rural areas. The seminar was well-attended by students, business owners, and various members of the community.
The Local Government of Rizal expressed heartfelt gratitude to the BSP Regional Office and First Consolidated Bank for bringing such an informative and empowering program to their municipality. Local officials highlighted the value of such initiatives in fostering financial literacy and opportunities, particularly in geographically isolated communities.
Ma’am Ellen L. Manzul, Acting Municipal Treasurer, affirmed the continued support of the Municipal Treasury Office for similar activities in the future. She emphasized the importance of sustained partnerships with the BSP and other financial institutions to further uplift the financial well-being of the people of Rizal.
