🏘️ OVERALL TASKS OF A BARANGAY
📋 GOVERNANCE & ADMINISTRATION
- Enact barangay ordinances and resolutions
- Maintain peace and order within the barangay
- Enforce laws and ordinances at the barangay level
- Conduct regular Sangguniang Barangay sessions
- Keep and maintain barangay records and documents
- Prepare and submit reports to higher government units
💰 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Prepare and approve the Annual Barangay Budget
- Collect barangay taxes, fees, and charges
- Manage and account for barangay funds
- Oversee the Barangay Development Fund (BDF)
- Ensure proper disbursement of barangay funds
- Submit financial reports to the Commission on Audit (COA)
🏗️ INFRASTRUCTURE & DEVELOPMENT
- Identify and prioritize barangay development projects
- Maintain barangay roads, pathways, and facilities
- Propose and implement infrastructure improvements
- Coordinate with the LGU for bigger projects
- Manage barangay-owned properties and facilities
🏥 HEALTH & SANITATION
- Operate and maintain the Barangay Health Center
- Coordinate health programs with the Rural Health Unit (RHU)
- Promote sanitation and proper waste disposal
- Implement anti-dengue, anti-rabies, and other health campaigns
- Monitor and report health concerns and outbreaks
- Distribute medicines and health supplies to constituents
🎓 EDUCATION & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
- Support the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) programs
- Promote literacy and out-of-school youth programs
- Coordinate with local schools for educational activities
- Establish and manage Day Care Centers
- Support scholarship and education assistance programs
⚖️ JUSTICE & DISPUTE RESOLUTION
- Operate the Lupong Tagapamayapa (Barangay Justice System)
- Mediate and settle disputes among residents (Katarungang Pambarangay)
- Issue Certificates to File Action when settlement fails
- Prevent minor conflicts from escalating to courts
- Maintain barangay blotter records
🚨 PEACE & ORDER / PUBLIC SAFETY
- Organize and supervise the Barangay Tanod (community watch)
- Establish a Barangay Peace and Order Committee
- Coordinate with PNP and BFP for public safety
- Respond to emergencies and disasters
- Implement anti-illegal drugs programs (Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council - BADAC)
- Monitor and report criminal activities
🌪️ DISASTER RISK REDUCTION
- Organize the **Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC)**
- Prepare barangay disaster contingency plans
- Conduct disaster preparedness drills and seminars
- Manage the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Fund
- Coordinate relief operations during calamities
- Maintain evacuation centers
👪 SOCIAL SERVICES & WELFARE
- Identify indigent and vulnerable residents
- Facilitate access to DSWD and other government aid
- Support senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents

- Enforce environmental laws at the community level
- Promote proper garbage segregation and disposal
- Maintain cleanliness of public areas
- Implement anti-littering and anti-illegal dumping rules
- Coordinate tree planting and urban gardening programs
📣 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & INFORMATION
- Conduct regular Barangay Assembly (at least twice a year)
- Inform residents of government programs and policies
- Encourage civic participation and volunteerism
- Post public notices and announcements
- Coordinate with NGOs and private sector for community programs
