From raw materials to unique handcrafted products, innovation truly came to life during the “Design Trends: Driftwood Décor and Souvenir Items Using Coconut Shells” held on April 28–29, 2026, at the RSU Calatrava Campus.

Through the joint efforts of DTI Romblon – Negosyo Center Calatrava, in collaboration with the LGU of Calatrava through the MSWDO and Romblon State University, this two-day product development activity gathered 50 MSME participants from various sectors, all eager to learn, create, and enhance their craftsmanship.

Guided by trainer Mr. Rodver G. Galoso, participants explored innovative design concepts and transformed simple natural materials into unique, creative, and market-ready products. The activity provided a valuable hands-on learning experience that encouraged creativity, product innovation, and skills development among participants.

With participants expressing high satisfaction and appreciation, the initiative served as a meaningful step toward empowering local entrepreneurs and promoting innovation within the community.

The activity “VISUAL STORYTELLING: Product Photography and Content Creation for Business Growth” was successfully conducted on April 22, 2026 at the Calatrava Municipal Hall, with 10 MSMEs from different sectors in attendance.

The activity aimed to equip participants with practical skills in product photography and content creation to help them effectively promote their products and strengthen their business presence, especially in digital platforms.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Wenna Mae Q. Foja and Mr. Oliver V. Musca Jr. of DICT Romblon, who shared valuable insights and techniques on visual storytelling and product photography. Participants were given the opportunity to immediately apply what they learned through hands-on application and simulation activities.

The active participation of the attendees was evident throughout the session, as they explored new approaches and created their own content on the spot. Overall, participants expressed satisfaction with the knowledge and skills they gained from the activity.

Bringing services closer to the community 💼

The Negosyo Center Serbisyo sa Barangay was successfully conducted in Linao, Calatrava, Romblon on April 8, 2026, with the participation of 25 MSMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs from various sectors.

The caravan provided on-site assistance on business name registration, BMBE Certificate of Authority, and SB Corp loan application. Mr. Marc Eugene Eugenio, Business Counselor, also shared valuable information on the services and support that the Negosyo Center can extend to local entrepreneurs.

It’s encouraging to see the positive response from participants, who expressed their appreciation for the accessible and helpful services brought directly to their barangay.

Keeping an eye on prices for the protection of consumers. 🛒

On March 11, 2026, price monitoring for basic necessities and prime commodities was carried out in the grocery stores and hardware stores in Calatrava amid the recent oil price hike. The activity was conducted by NCBC Marc Eugene Eugenio together with his municipal counterpart, Mr. Vhon Falcutila.

This initiative aims to ensure that prices remain within the suggested retail price and that consumers continue to have fair access to essential goods despite the ongoing fuel price increase. Regular monitoring also helps maintain transparency and reminds establishments to uphold responsible pricing for the welfare of the community. 📊
