ODIONGAN, Romblon — Demonstrating its commitment to effective public communication and information dissemination, the Romblon Police Provincial Office, represented by PLTCOL LEDILYN Y AMBONAN, Provincial Public Information Officer and Pat Farida Mae Molina participated in the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Romblon First Semester Communication Network Meeting and Training, including the Oathtaking Ceremony of newly elected officers, held on June 4, 2026, at the PGR Sub-Office Conference Hall, Barangay Rizal, Odiongan, Romblon.

The activity gathered Public Information Officers (PIOs) and designated representatives from various Local Government Units (LGUs) and National Government Agencies (NGAs) across the province to strengthen coordination, collaboration, and information-sharing among government communicators.

Organized by PIA-Romblon, the meeting aimed to enhance the capabilities of information officers in effectively communicating government programs, projects, and services to the public, ensuring that accurate, timely, and relevant information reaches communities throughout Romblon.

During the activity, participants attended discussions on key communication topics, including Broadcasting, Crisis Communication, and Mobile Journalism. These learning sessions provided valuable insights and practical strategies to improve communication efforts, particularly in delivering accurate information during emergencies and in maximizing digital platforms for public engagement.

A significant highlight of the event was the oathtaking ceremony of the Communication Network officers elected in November 2025, reaffirming their commitment to advancing effective government communication and strengthening partnerships among member agencies.

The participation of the Romblon PPO underscores its dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness through timely and accurate dissemination of information, in line with the Philippine National Police’s commitment to community engagement and service excellence.

ODIONGAN, Romblon – In a continuing effort to strengthen community-oriented policing and enhance accountability mechanisms in law enforcement, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) MIMAROPA commenced its Seminar on the Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP) System and Capability Training for Members of the People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) on June 4, 2026, in Odiongan, Romblon.

The activity forms part of a series of training sessions scheduled across the municipalities of Odiongan, and San Andres, aimed at promoting stronger collaboration among local government units, law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders in maintaining peace and public safety.

The seminar gathered representatives from NAPOLCOM, local government officials, PNP personnel, and members of the People's Law Enforcement Board. Discussions focused on NAPOLCOM mandates and functions, the 2026 National Crime Prevention Program, the Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan, and the implementation of the Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP) System.

During the opening program, Odiongan Mayor Hon. Roger Q. Fodra Jr. delivered the opening message, emphasizing the importance of collaborative governance in addressing community concerns. Meanwhile, PCOL REXTON F SAWI, Provincial Director of the Romblon Police Provincial Office, conveyed a message of support, reaffirming the commitment of the PNP to community engagement and responsive policing.

The lectures were facilitated by NAPOLCOM MIMAROPA officials led by Regional Director ATTY. LEONORA G. BARTOLOME, CPA, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director ATTY. GLOCYPHINE A. CHAVEZ-ESPAÑA, and ATTY. ADRIAN F. DUCAT.

"Community and Service-Oriented Policing is a vital approach in fostering trust, transparency, and cooperation between law enforcement and the public. Through initiatives such as this, we continue to build stronger partnerships that contribute to safer and more peaceful communities," PCOL SAWI said.

The training is expected to further empower local stakeholders and PLEB members in performing their roles effectively while advancing the principles of accountability, good governance, and community participation in public safety efforts.

ODIONGAN, Romblon – A joint effort to protect the province's natural resources led to the arrest of an individual and the confiscation of illegally transported forest products during an operation conducted by personnel of the Odiongan Municipal Police Station on June 3, 2026, in Barangay Bangon, Odiongan, Romblon.

At around 6:30 PM, police personnel conducting intelligence monitoring and enforcement operations against illegal activities intercepted a motorcycle transporting assorted lumber without the necessary permits and supporting documents required under Philippine forestry laws.

Upon inspection, authorities discovered various pieces of lumber with a total volume of 211.99 board feet and an estimated market value of ₱10,599.50. The individual in possession of the forest products failed to present a Certificate of Origin, Authority to Transport, Permit, or any other document authorizing the transport and possession of the lumber.

As a result, the suspect was arrested for violation of Section 77 (formerly Section 68) of Presidential Decree No. 705, as amended, otherwise known as the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.

The confiscated forest products were immediately seized and brought to Odiongan MPS for proper documentation and disposition. Coordination was likewise made with representatives from the Monitoring Enforcement Section (MES) of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Romblon for the conduct of scaling, measurement, valuation, and species identification of the seized lumber.

The suspect and the confiscated forest products are currently under the custody of Odiongan MPS pending the filing of appropriate charges before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor through inquest proceedings.

Provincial Director PCOL REXTON F SAWI commended the operating personnel for their vigilance and commitment to environmental law enforcement.

"The Romblon Police Provincial Office remains steadfast in supporting efforts to protect our environment and natural resources. Illegal logging and the unlawful transport of forest products threaten ecological balance and the welfare of future generations. We will continue to strengthen our enforcement operations and work closely with our partner agencies to ensure that violators of environmental laws are held accountable," PCOL SAWI said.

The Romblon Police Provincial Office reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the environment and urges the public to support government initiatives aimed at preserving the province's natural resources by reporting any illegal activities involving forest products and other environmental violations.

ODIONGAN, Romblon – The Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) MIMAROPA convened for its 2nd Quarter Full Council Meeting for Calendar Year 2026 at La Marietta Events Place, Odiongan, Romblon on June 3, 2026, bringing together key government officials, law enforcement leaders, and stakeholders to assess the region’s security landscape and strengthen collaborative efforts toward peace, public safety, and sustainable development.

The meeting was presided over by RPOC Chairperson and Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor and attended by council members, regional directors, representatives from national government agencies, law enforcement units, and local government units from across the MIMAROPA Region.

Romblon Governor Trina Alejandra Firmalo-Fabic welcomed the delegates and expressed her appreciation for the council’s continued commitment to promoting peace, public safety, security, and development throughout the region. She emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among stakeholders in addressing emerging challenges and ensuring the welfare of communities.

The council meeting served as a venue to evaluate the prevailing peace and order situation in MIMAROPA and discuss strategic interventions to address security concerns. Among the key agenda items were updates on the internal security situation in MIMAROPA, including developments in Palawan and the West Philippine Sea; anti-illegal drug operations and accomplishments; peace and order situation updates; fire incidents and fire prevention initiatives; and updates on the status of correctional facilities and inmates in the region.

The meeting further underscored the collective commitment of government agencies, law enforcement units, and local government partners to sustain gains in governance, security, and community development throughout the region.

FERROL, Romblon– Demonstrating the Philippine National Police's commitment to organizational excellence, operational readiness, and responsive public service, PRO MIMAROPA Acting Regional Director PBGEN CHRISTOPHER R DELA CRUZ conducted a field visit and inspection at the Ferrol Municipal Police Station in Barangay Poblacion, Ferrol, Romblon on June 3, 2026.

The activity formed part of the Acting Regional Director’s continuing inspection and monitoring efforts aimed at assessing the operational capability of police units, strengthening personnel morale, and ensuring the effective implementation of organizational policies, programs, and directives throughout the region.

During the visit, PBGEN DELA CRUZ inspected station facilities, reviewed operational accomplishments and ongoing initiatives, and engaged with personnel to evaluate their readiness in delivering efficient and responsive police services. The inspection likewise provided an opportunity to discuss measures that further enhance police performance, accountability, and community engagement.

A key highlight of the visit was the reiteration of the F.I.G.H.T. C.R.I.M.E.S. framework, a strategic guide being implemented across PRO MIMAROPA to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency. ROMBLON, Philippines – The Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO), through the personnel of Romblon Municipal Police Station (MPS), successfully arrested the Rank No. 1 Most Wanted Person at the Municipal Level during a joint law enforcement operation conducted at Barangay Santa Catalina, Pagbilao, Quezon on June 3, 2026.

The operation was led by Romblon MPS in coordination with the Pagbilao Police Station and Naga City Police Station 5. The accused was apprehended by virtue of a Bench Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Fifth Judicial Region, Branch 26, for two counts of Estafa under Article 315, Paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code.

The warrant, dated November 23, 2022, was issued by the presiding judge of the court, with no bail recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused.

Following the arrest, the individual was placed under the custody of the Pagbilao Police Station for proper documentation and processing prior to presentation before the issuing court for appropriate legal proceedings.

PCOL REXTON F SAWI, Provincial Director of the Romblon Police Provincial Office, commended the operating units for their dedication and commitment to the campaign against wanted persons.

"The successful arrest of the municipality's top wanted person reflects our unwavering commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that individuals facing criminal charges are held accountable before the courts. We will continue to strengthen coordination with other law enforcement agencies to locate and apprehend wanted persons wherever they may be found," PCOL SAWI said.

The Romblon PPO remains steadfast in its intensified campaign against wanted persons as part of its continuing efforts to uphold public safety, maintain peace and order, and support the administration of justice.
