The BLS Training was conducted on 11โ€“12 August 2026, followed by the WASAR Training from 10โ€“17 August 2026, at Brgy. Culasi, Culasi Port, Roxas City, Capiz.

As part of the medical support, the NSSU and MEDFAS RTC Capiz team conducted blood pressure monitoring and basic medical screening prior to the WASAR pre-qualifying assessment. The medical team also remained on standby throughout the training to provide immediate medical assistance and ensure the health and safety of the participants during the physically demanding water search and rescue activities.

Through the combined efforts of NSSU RTC Capiz and MEDFAS RTC Capiz, the participants received essential life-saving skills training and medical assistance, contributing to the safe, organized, and effective implementation of the activities.

The activity was held at Classroom 1, RTC Capiz, Brgy. Culasi, Culasi Port, Roxas City, Capiz.

In addition, seven (7) Criminology students from the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion attended the training as observers, gaining valuable exposure to basic life-saving techniques and emergency response procedures. The activity equipped participants with essential BLS knowledge and practical skills necessary to prepare them for their future roles as lifeguards, particularly in responding to drowning incidents and other life-threatening emergencies.

Through this initiative, the ๐๐’๐’๐” ๐‘๐“๐‚ ๐‚๐š๐ฉ๐ข๐ณ continues to promote a competent, prepared, and responsive community by strengthening the capacity of individuals to respond effectively during emergencies and reinforcing the shared responsibility of saving lives and ensuring public safety.

Upon arrival at the scene, the patient was found to be weak, pale, diaphoretic, and actively vomiting. A primary assessment revealed severely elevated blood pressure. The medical team immediately rendered appropriate prehospital nursing care and continuously monitored the patient's vital signs and neurological status during transport.

An advance call was made to the receiving facility to facilitate timely preparation and continuity of care. The patient was safely transported to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for further evaluation and definitive management.

Held at the Audio-Visual Classroom of ๐—–๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ถ ๐—˜๐—น๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—น in Barangay Culasi, Roxas City, Capiz, the activity gathered 38 participants, including school heads, DRRM officers, teachers, non-teaching personnel, Supreme Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) officers, barangay officials, and a representative from the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG).

The initiative highlighted the vital role of schools and local communities in strengthening emergency preparedness and fostering a culture of lifesaving. Through CPR awareness and hands-on training, participants gained essential knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to recognize cardiac emergencies, perform immediate lifesaving interventions, and provide timely assistance while awaiting the arrival of emergency medical services.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV), through the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit Western Visayas (NSSU-WV), successfully conducted a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training at HCGDWV, Zone II, Brgy. Obrero, Lapuz, Iloilo City, on 06-07 July 2026.
A total of Thirty-six (36) participants including the District, Commander of the CGDWV, Commodore Ludovico D Librilla Jr PCG completed the competency based training designed to strengthen life-saving skills and enhance emergency response readiness.
The course included hands on instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), proper use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), choking management and early recognition of cardiac arrest, as well as scene safety and coordinated emergency response.
This initiative underscores CGDWVโ€™s continued commitment to professional development, operational excellence, and proactive capacity building in safeguarding lives at sea and on land.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV), through the Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit Western Visayas (CGNSSU-WV), conducted the Basic Life Support (BLS) Training at the Headquarters, Coast Guard District Western Visayas (HCGDWV), Zone II, Bo. Obrero, Lapuz, Iloilo City, from July 1-2, 2026.
The two day training was attended by forty-eight (48) personnel and aimed to equip them with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to provide immediate and life-saving care during medical emergencies. The participants underwent lectures and practical exercises on the principles and techniques of Basic Life Support, enabling them to respond effectively to emergency situations while awaiting advanced medical assistance.
The conduct of the training underscores the Philippine Coast Guardโ€™s continuing commitment to enhancing the capabilities and preparedness of its personnel in delivering prompt and effective emergency response, thereby contributing to the preservation of life and the promotion of public safety.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: Personnel of Coast Guard Station Capiz, together with its Sub-Stations, Operational Control (OpCon) Units, and participation of Medical First-Aid Station (MedFAS) Capiz, Nursing Service Sub-Unit (NSSU) RTC Capiz, Coast Guard Search and Rescue (CG SAR) Base Roxas, and 604th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron (CGAS), successfully rendered security assistance and conducted bay watch patrols during the celebration of the Feast of San Juan de Bautista across the Province of Capiz, yesterday, 24 June 2026.
As part of the Coast Guardโ€™s security operations, personnel were deployed to provide maritime security assistance during the Fluvial Parade in Roxas City, ensuring the safety of participants, devotees, spectators, and watercraft involved in the activity. Simultaneously, bay watch patrols were conducted throughout the coastal municipalities of Capiz to monitor maritime activities, promote public safety, and ensure the security of beachgoers, fishermen, and other maritime stakeholders during the province-wide celebration.
This activity highlights the Philippine Coast Guardโ€™s steadfast commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining maritime safety, security, and environmental protection through proactive presence, vigilance, and strengthened coordination with partner agencies and stakeholders.
