COMMUNITY PANTREE | SERBISYO CARAVAN 2026

The Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO) joined the LGU Maayon Serbisyo Caravan on August 27, 2026, at Brgy. Alasaging and August 28, 2026 at Brgy. Manayupit Maayon, Capiz, bringing environmental services closer to the community through a Community PanTree activity.

A total of 600 fruit-bearing seedlings were distributed to residents, including Guyabano , Malano, Atis, Lansones, Rambutan, and Marang, promoting household food production, greening, and community participation in environmental conservation.

The Capiz Provincial Government, led by Governor Fredenil H. Castro, through the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), conducted the Dungog Lunhaw: Search for Ten Outstanding Environmental Initiatives Coordination Meeting on August 27, 2026, at Aura Condotel, Roxas City, Capiz.

The coordination meeting aimed to update the guidelines for the Dungog Lunhaw initiative and discuss the significance and objectives of the activity, particularly in recognizing and promoting outstanding environmental initiatives in the province.

Representatives from various partner agencies and organizations were present during the meeting, including the Borres Youth Leadership Institute, Inc. (BYLI), Department of Education (DepEd) โ€“ Roxas City and Capiz Divisions, Gawad Kalinga, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) โ€“ Capiz, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) โ€“ Capiz, Sentro Para sa Ikakaunlad ng Katutubong Agham at Teknolohiya (SIKAT Inc.), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit (PDRRMU), Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

The meeting served as an important venue for coordination, collaboration, and the sharing of ideas among partner organizations to ensure the successful implementation of Dungog Lunhaw and strengthen collective efforts toward environmental protection and sustainable development in the Province of Capiz.

The Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), with the assistance of the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), led the staking activity for the Arboretum of Philippine Native Trees on August 27, 2026 at Sito Kabanbanan, Brgy. Dolores, Dumalag, Capiz.

The activity focused on establishing the site layout and key project components in preparation for the construction of the arboretum. The activity was participated in by MENRO Dumalag, Municipal Engineering Office, DENR-PENRO Capiz, DILG Capiz, PPDO, BLGU Dolores, and the Dolores Integrated Social Forestry Association (DISFA).

The Capiz Provincial Government, led by Governor Fredenil H. Castro, through the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Pilar through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), conducted a Coastal Clean-Up Drive in Barangay Natividad, Pilar, Capiz, on August 25, 2026.

A total of 247 kilograms of waste, equivalent to 33 sacks, was collected through the collective efforts of the Barangay Officials of Barangay Natividad, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Tanods, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)โ€“Pilar, MENRO, and CaPENRO personnel.

The activity highlights the importance of community participation in keeping coastal areas clean, protecting marine ecosystems, and promoting environmental responsibility among communities.

The Provincial Government of Capiz, through the Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cuartero through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), successfully conducted โ€œA Seed for a Forest: A Seed Collection Activityโ€ on August 20, 2026, as part of the celebration of the 88th Founding Anniversary and Hinugyaw Festival 2026.

The activity gathered a total of 31,072 fruit-bearing seeds from various species, including Langka, Mangga, Santol, Durian, Marang, Calamansi, Lemon, Cabugao, Avocado, Rambutan, Guyabano, Bignay, and Cacao. The seeds were collected with the participation of 50 individuals from different barangays, demonstrating the communityโ€™s active involvement and commitment to environmental conservation and forest restoration.

The activity was graced by the presence of Mayor Stephen Chris E. Openiano, Vice Mayor Abner Falcis, and Ms. Jamela Montoya-Asuncion, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), whose support contributed to the success of the activity.

Every seed collected represents more than just a contributionโ€”it is a promise of a greener, healthier, and more sustainable tomorrow for the people of Capiz and future generations.

Not all waste can be treated and disposed of like ordinary household garbage. Some wastes require special handling, proper storage, collection, treatment, and disposal because they may pose risks to human health, safety, and the environment.

Special waste can include several important categories:

These are wastes that may be toxic, corrosive, flammable, reactive, or otherwise harmful to people and the environment. Examples include used batteries, chemical containers, pesticides, solvents, paints, and other chemical products.

๐Ÿ. ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐–๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž
These are wastes generated from healthcare activities that may carry infectious or other health risks. Examples include used syringes and needles, contaminated gloves, gauze, bandages, and other potentially infectious materials. These should never be mixed with ordinary household waste.

These are large items that cannot easily be placed in regular waste containers. Examples include old furniture, mattresses, large appliances, and other oversized household items. These require appropriate collection and disposal arrangements.
