The role of the Provincial Assessor’s Office is to take charge of the discovery, classification, appraisal and assessment of all real properties within the territorial jurisdiction which shall be used as the basis for taxation. Sections 200 and 232 of the Local Government Code, it is clear that the real property tax is generally, a PROVINCIAL IMPOSITION and therefore, it is the province that is vested with the power to levy and administer the real property tax and not the municipality.

The Provincial Assessor’s Office, in collaboration with the sixteen (16) Municipal Assessors of the Province of Capiz, successfully conducted the 2nd Public Consultation pursuant to Republic Act No. 12001, otherwise known as the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act.

This activity highlights our continued commitment to transparency, accountability, fair property valuation, and inclusive stakeholder participation in the preparation of the proposed 2028 SMV.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Hon. Dante Rizal A. Eslabon, Municipal Mayor of Sigma, Capiz, Ms. Glezel J. Villa, Municipal Administrator/Municipal Assessor of Sigma, the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Sigma, officials from various municipalities and barangays, and all property owners and stakeholders for their valuable insights and active participation.
