IN PHOTOS: Opening the month of September today, we had an insightful discussion with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Region VI, covering the region's economic roadmap and a historic transition in our government's primary planning agency.
During today's episode, DEPDev 6 Regional Director engineer Arecio A. Casing Jr., together with Planning Policy Formulation and Planning Division (PFPD) Chief Economic Development Specialist Joyalita B. Tigres, discussed the Western Visayas Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028: 2025 Midterm Update.
Serving as the blueprint for the regionβs economic and development agenda, this plan is directly aligned with the 8-Point Agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, Ambisyon Natin 2040, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The midterm update is designed to check our progress, update strategies, and keep the region on track to achieve a "Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay".
Our guests also highlighted the reorganization of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) into DEPDev, as mandated by Republic Act No. 12145. This reorganization strengthens the government's commitment to evidence-based planning, development coherence, and long-term visioning.
