IN PHOTOS | The East Villaflores Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) successfully participated in the Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Crash Course Training – Batch 3 held on July 8–9, 2026.

Jointly facilitated by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Maayon and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Maayon, this training was conducted as part of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2026 celebration.

Participants gained essential knowledge and practical life-saving skills to effectively respond to emergencies, reinforcing the commitment of Barangay East Villaflores to building a safer, more prepared, and disaster-resilient community.

Together, we continue to strengthen our capacity to protect lives through preparedness, teamwork, and resilience.

𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑺𝑼 𝑪𝑯𝑷 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒕 𝑯𝒚𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑺𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒂𝒚𝒐𝒏

As part of the DOST–PCAARRD-funded research program, "Utilization of the Coconut Germplasm Collection at the Coconut Breeding Trial Unit (CBTU) for the Advancement of Coconut Hybridization in Western Visayas," through the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CFITF), the Capiz State University (CAPSU) Coconut Hybridization Program (CHP) successfully conducted the planting of coconut hybrid seedlings on July 2, 2026, in Brgy. East Villaflores, Maayon, Capiz. The activity followed the earlier distribution of hybrid coconut seedlings to the farmer cooperator, marking another significant step toward promoting improved coconut production and sustainable agricultural development in Western Visayas.

This initiative was made possible through the leadership and guidance of Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Program Leader of the CAPSU Coconut Hybridization Program and Vice President for External Affairs of Capiz State University, whose unwavering commitment continues to advance the program's mission of developing quality coconut hybrids and strengthening partnerships with farming communities.

The planting activity was warmly supported by Brgy. Captain Ronald Dordas, whose active leadership, together with the barangay officials, including the kagawads, greatly contributed to the successful implementation of the activity. The hybrid seedlings were planted in the farm of Mr. Dominador Contreras, the project's farmer cooperator, through the collective efforts of the local community and the project team.

Through the continued collaboration among CAPSU, local government officials, and farmer cooperators, the Coconut Hybridization Program remains committed to fostering innovation, resilience, and sustainable growth for the coconut industry in Western Visayas.
