𝑷𝑹𝑶 𝑴𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑶𝑷𝑨 𝑨𝑹𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑺 𝑺𝑼𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑪𝑻, 𝑺𝑬𝑰𝒁𝑬𝑺 ₱17.8𝑲 𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑻𝑯 𝑶𝑭 𝑰𝑳𝑳𝑬𝑮𝑨𝑳𝑳𝒀 𝑺𝑨𝑾𝑵 𝑳𝑼𝑴𝑩𝑬𝑹 𝑰𝑵 𝑴𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑨𝑳𝑨𝒀, 𝑶𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑨𝑳 𝑴𝑰𝑵𝑫𝑶𝑹𝑶

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Police Regional Office MIMAROPA arrested a male suspect and confiscated ₱17,860.40 worth of illegally sawn lumber during a joint anti-illegal logging operation in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro, on June 26, 2026.

The operation was conducted by personnel of Mansalay Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of PMAJ Remon Jake Aguho, Chief of Police, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Roxas, after authorities received information regarding the presence of illegally possessed forest products in Sitio Aplaya, Barangay Don Pedro.

Acting on the report, the joint operating team proceeded to the area and discovered 52 pieces of assorted illegally sawn lumber consisting of Mahogany, Gmelina, Ipil-ipil, and Lawaan with a total volume of 446.51 board feet, an estimated market value of ₱17,860.40, and an unfinished wooden boat believed to have been used in connection with the transport of the forest products.

The suspect was arrested after failing to present the permits and transport documents required under existing forestry laws and is now facing charges for alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 705, otherwise known as the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, while the confiscated lumber and unfinished boat were turned over to the DENR for proper documentation and disposition.

Acting Regional Director PBGEN Christopher R. Dela Cruz commended the operating personnel of Mansalay Municipal Police Station and their DENR counterparts for the successful operation, emphasizing that the protection of the region’s forests requires sustained law enforcement and strong interagency cooperation.

“Illegal logging is a serious offense that destroys our forests, threatens biodiversity, and deprives future generations of valuable natural resources, and we will continue working closely with the DENR and our partner agencies to ensure that environmental laws are strictly enforced and that those who exploit our natural resources are held accountable,” PBGEN Dela Cruz said.

The MIMAROPA Top Cop also urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report illegal logging and other environmental violations, emphasizing that protecting the country’s forests is a shared responsibility of law enforcement agencies, partner government institutions, and local communities.

Layunin ng inisyatiba na pahusayin ang operasyon ng DENR, isulong ang environmental sustainability, at gawing mas accessible ang mga serbisyong pampubliko sa pamamagitan ng pagbawas ng mahabang biyahe at trapiko, pagtitipid sa enerhiya, at mas malawak na paggamit ng digital na serbisyo, nang hindi naaapektuhan ang maaasahan at tuloy-tuloy na serbisyong publiko.

Tinitiyak ng Kagawaran na mananatiling bukas at ganap na accessible ang mga frontline services at mahahalagang operasyon on-site mula 7:00 a.m. hanggang 7:00 p.m., Lunes hanggang Huwebes, habang isinasagawa ang pilot implementation ng mas makabagong paraan ng pagtatrabaho sa gobyerno.
